Convertible Confirmed to Enter Production in 1st Quarter 2011

In a press release about the production of the Buick Regal, also slated for Oshawa, it also had the following to say regarding the Camaro:
  • Oshawa Car Plant running maximum overtime since June 2009 that will continue into the new year to keep up with demand for the Chevrolet Camaro
  • Production of the Camaro Convertible in Oshawa beginning in Q1 2011
you can read the entire release here but there isn't really anything else about the Camaro. It mostly talks about the Regal and a bit about the Equinox/Terrain production. Found out about this on Autoblog, dated November 25th. We're slacking off.

Glad I ........ uhhhh........ waited?

I was impatient. I would have bought the vert SS if it were available. I'll be a tad jealous of the ones I see. lol

Very cool :D, now I just wish we could find out when they will start production on the 2011's (non-convertible).

Great - Just in time for the lease on my wife's G6 Hard Top convertible to be over - already leaving subliminal messages for her on the Camaro convertible...

I still like the hardtop

I would love a Camaro Convertible, but I am afraid that it will be out of my price range.. considering a 2000 Sunfire GT Convertible nicely equipped MSRP was over 20K, what do you think a New Camaro Convertible will cost?

caverman 11-27-2009 01:01 PM

I would think the Convt will add another $5k-$6 on top of what ever the existing price already is. That's typically a general rule of thumb for a convt over hardtop.

"Production of the Camaro Convertible in Oshawa beginning in Q1 2011"

So sometime in January, February or March?
It doesn't mean it will begin January 2nd, Could be as late as the last week in March. Remember, Camaro production was moved from February to March.

More than likely it will be only available on the upper tier models, like the 2lt and 2ss models... Thats my guess... I don't ever recall seeing any Z/28 Convertibles...

Figure the cars will be available May 2011 time frame :)

Z28 Convertibles were produced in both the 3rd and 4th gens.

They made Z28 convertibles in 1991 and 1992 and between 1994 and 2002. They made IROC Z convertibles as well between 1987 and 1990. In addition, one 1968 Z28 convertible was made as a personal car for a GM big whig (Pete Estes I think, correct me if I'm wrong)
