**Woodward Dream Cruise is world’s largest one-day automotive event
**1.5 million fans and 50,000 cars participate in grassroots celebration

DETROIT – Chevrolet will be the presenting sponsor for the 2011 Woodward Dream Cruise, a grassroots event that each August draws some 1.5 million car enthusiasts to Michigan’s legendary Woodward Avenue. This year’s Dream Cruise on August 20, the first in the three-year sponsorship agreement, will help mark Chevrolet’s Centennial.

“Chevrolet has always had a strong presence as part of the Woodward Dream Cruise, and we’re honored to have them become the presenting sponsor of the event,” said Greg Rassel, president of the Woodward Dream Cruise. “We are looking forward to what lies ahead for the Dream Cruise, as this partnership will help the growth of our event over the next several years.”

Chevrolet is showcasing its past, present, and future at the Dream Cruise, including:

Historic Chevrolets owned and driven by fans, employees, and retirees
**A showcase of current Chevrolets, including Equinox, Cruze, Camaro, Corvette, and Volt
**A chance for fans to see future Chevys, including the new Sonic small car, which will be built in Michigan, and the ZL1 Camaro
**Performance vehicles and powertrains on display in Memorial Park in Royal Oak
**Chevrolet Volt owners will participate in the Dream Cruise and related events, making this the first year that a significant number of electrically driven cars will participate in the Cruise.

“Chevrolet and the Woodward Dream Cruise are a natural partnership,” said Rick Scheidt, vice president, Chevrolet marketing. “Chevrolet, as a global brand, is celebrating its centennial with locally focused events that recognize the passion people have for their Chevrolets.”

“The Woodward Dream Cruise is the ultimate grassroots automotive event,” said Scheidt. “It is open to everyone. It’s free to attend. You can drive, or just watch. You can bring the family. It is a true celebration of automotive passion and performance, and we are pleased that Chevrolet can help make it possible.”

Sure you want to be driving a stick during the cruise?

When you get your ZL1 and let me drive it, I'll let you drive my Vert.
I promise I'll bring the ZL1 back. Someday.

Maybe.

Haha, first I don't know how to drive a stick and even if I did I wouldn't want to during the cruise. Love your vert though, and the ZL1 will rarely leave the garage :D

let's all just swap cars for the cruise.

HDRDTD gets Becky's Pace Car
BWPROD gets HDRDTD's 'vert

lets keep a running tally. anyone with a V8 wanna swap with me... i'd even be willing to swap with someone with an L99 (i have NO DESIRE to be driving stick in that traffic)

HDRDTD 06-02-2011 11:03 PM

Whatsamatta none of you kiddies can handle driving a stick.

Waitaminute, that's right, you can't even handle a few rain drops.

Sheeesh, and we let you in the club?

meb885 06-02-2011 11:05 PM

i can handle driving stick just fine, i did it last year to get from 1 place to another on woodward (in my Saturn....yea i didnt have my camaro) it's not fun..... i will be doing it this year without any complaints....and MY car is wet all the time. i'm not scared like alfie. hahaha.

mikeSS 06-02-2011 11:46 PM

pretty cool. i am at woodward every weeken as is ! for meets.

rtcat600man 06-04-2011 05:30 PM

I will see the Detroit 5th GEN club on Woodward hopefully at a good parking location for the club. I was on woodward everyday last year during the cruise taking photos.

Glad to see Chevrolet has taken up the sponsorship.

now if we could just get chevy to take over northwood shopping center (13/woodward) instead of chrysler.... chrysler (dodge usually i think) always has a VERY large and extravagent display in that lot, and its really the center of all the action.
