Well, that was just breathtaking. Especially on the Z/28 side at about 6:15 when it started raining. Wipers at 150+mph. Mother of God.

To try and show some perspective the Z/28 beats the ZL1 in the corners and acceleration. ZL1 does have the top speed. Proof is in the pictures. :thumb:

Really nice job with that comparison. It definitely shows the difference in suspension applications/handling versus HP. Thanks! :clap2:

Z28 VS '14 Corvette Stingray

I'm dying to know how this time will compare VS the '14 Corvette Stingray Z51. Which one will be faster at Nurburgring?

Watch this clip very carefully. Use the timer for the video and markings on the track like signs on the sign and see that at one point the Z28 was 9 seconds ahead. When the rain fall started coming on to the end the Zl1 started gaining ground on the Z28, closed the gap from 9 secs to 3 secs. Had there not been rain the Z28 probably would have been 10 or 11 secs ahead placing it well at the 7:29 min mark.

Definitely the Z28 driver pushed that car harder than the more conservatively driven Zl1. This only means that the ZL1 is more capable placing them in the 7:20+ to 7:30+ min zone. Both great cars either way.

The Z28 had over 9 second on the ZL1 at 6m21s. Then the rain starts just before the long back stretch where the ZL1 gets some time back all the way to the end where the Z/28 coasted for survival.

The gap is deeper then 3.8sec.
After reviewing the overlay, the Z28 should be able to crack the 7:30.00

I don't think so. I think the ZL1 times are much closer than we think. ZL1 was driven conservative which is obvious. The Z/28 was driven with a sense of urgency.

It's all a #'s game with some added fluff. We may not get newer times until a year from now but I think it needs to be done.

Please watch the lap again with audio and tell where exactly he miss an apex or comes out weak or breaks in early or is not at WOT?
The only miss I noticed was coming in & out of the bowl at 6:31
That's a big 2/10th of a second... yeah we drove conservative allright

The Z/28 is a track animal. Hands down. And very impressive.

Now...about the price tag. That'll be a question concerning value to some (not including the Kool-Aid drinkers). I'm not even remotely interested in owning a Z/28 because it 1) doesn't come in a convertible, and 2) I have no twisty track aspirations to feel the need for one.

But I'm glad it's back!!
