Squeaking Brakes

Hello All, So Ive had the car for about 3 weeks and so far I'm in love, but one thing I notice is the breaks are squeaking sporadically. sometimes when I'm breaking I will hear nothing, and other times they squeak allot. Is this a normal part of the break in process or should I take it back to the dealer to get them checked out? I probably gotten about 500 miles on the car and its a 2LT RS. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

I had the same problem, they found a piece of metal that was stuck under the pad.

I noticed the same thing on my 1LT/RS, even after 4000+ miles. They only squeak if the car has been sitting for at least a few hours and the brakes are cold. Once they warm up, the sound is gone. I usually hear it in the parking garage on the way out of work. By the time I get from the 6th floor down to the 3rd or 2nd floor, the sound is pretty much gone.

I was going to ask my dealer about it but I assumed that it was normal for the type of brake pads that are designed to haul this car from 60mph to zero in less than 110ft.

I'm having the same problem. I notice it when I'm moveing slow like through a parking lot. Took it to the dealer and they ordered new pads for it, but they are on backorder. I'll let you know if I get it solved.

Put on some Hawk ceramic brakes and get rid of the dust and all>

I have had the same problem. Had my dealer inspect the brakes and there were no apparent issues.

I was told that they squeak because of the compounds in the breaks. High performance breaks have metal shavings in them that make it grip the discs better. Dealer said that they often have Corvette owners have the same issue.

If this is the cost of high performance breaks then I’ll deal with it. It’s still embarrassing to have squeaky breaks on a brand new car! When I need to get them replaced I’m going to look for some better pads though.

I just got mine back from the dealer and they sid that GM has recently issued a bulliten for this issue. There is a "solvent" that they put onto the pads that fixes the issue. Haven't had any problems with mine since then.
