everything can be made to be collectable that doesnt mean the general public shares your interest or worth, for cars today i would say at least 40 years before they are considered "collectable" the guy who said 10 years it will be a collectable lol... good luck with that, cars are not the greatest investment but then again it's a car, not a stock fund... drive it enjoy it, and make it worth something to YOU.

No way a collectable, way, way too many will be made. If they had a Yenko, Baldwin Motion or the like, maybe it would.

I believe in 20-25 years they will stop depreciating/start appreciating. In 30-35 years they will start to become valuable.

The ones that remain in pristine condition will be collectibles.. Yes many will be made, just like you see many 80's Trans-Am's and camaro's on the road. Most of them look faded, and in terrible condition.. Those that were kept like new, re-painted, have become show-cars and collectibles to many already.. Same will happen with the Camaro. Many will look like the 94-98 Mustangs that are only 10 years old but look like crap today...But those few kept looking great will be worth something to somebody and appreciate in value.. If yours is one of the first pre-orders with the special VIN number, then that will also hold its value 30 years from now in comparison to all following years..etc..

Why does anybody buying a new one care??? If you are concerned and want your car to be collectible some time in the future, then you should get the SS 6-speed and order every option available on the Camaro- ground effects, engine cover, sunroof, RS, high spoiler, expensive wheels, and DON'T modify the car at all. Original cars are more valuable.

And you should probably wait for a ragtop!

At least that is what makes the old muscle cars more desirable. Highest horsepower, most options, stick shift, convertible------------------------------------------------------------but WHO CARES!!!!! Your grandchild will be worrying about this car's value in the future!

Collecting Cars
 

When I bought this car new in 1967 for $3,000 Cash, I did not think about keeping it for all of these 42 years. I drove this car across the county several times with my kids in the back seat, and it even survived their learning to drive in it. It has survived several minor accidents and because of financial conditions I never really considered trading it in. After all it was the first year of the Camaro. Now I am buying a new 2010 SS Camaro for ten times what I paid the first time. I am planning on keeping this one as long as I can. Hopefully my children will keep it going after I am gone. In about twenty to thirty years it will be another Classic Camaro.:chevy::wave:

Totally gonna be collectible, especially when you count how many are gonna be totalled in the first year by 16 year old kids who's parents buy them a 426 HP car. Because they are very good drivers and have so much experience and promise to never ever race

i would say normally 20-30 yrs however it is possible the v8's may be gone within ten yrs. or at worst if gm totally tanks and stops manufacturing cars in the next few yrs then this would be the last camaro produced for ever making it an instant collectable.no matter a v8 or v6 ,i could just see it now the preorder cars are built then halt ,.a few yrs later a normal guy couldnt even touch one only aquired through barrett jackson for big $$$$. whew man that was a bad dream i had last night.

Remember the more people that think it will be collectible, the less collectible it will probably be!

I think my SKY Redline is more rare and probably has the potential to be more collectible. Only time will tell.

What is a 1993 Z28 worth now? In a few years it will be 20 years old. I don't see these camaros being very collectable. There are going to be thousands of them produced. It doesn't seem like there are very many ways to order a "unique" one either. If everyone back in the late 60's could know what we know now, there whould be thousands more 69 Z28S with 4 wheel disc brakes and crossram intake manifolds out there. Im sure there would be plenty of Yenko and COPO cars too. These cars may not depreciate as rapidly if they are put away and never driven. But why buy the car if you aren't going to drive it? Your not going to have the next ZL1.
