Just to verify...Borla 60606 to stock NPP. 60606 CEL?

I have a Borla 60606 that I am connecting to the stock NPP.

The 60606 does not have the cutting instructions, however the Borla S-Type/ATAK instructions say to measure out 7" to make the cut.

Just want to verify that is where I would still make the cut to attach the 60606? (It's just kind of reversed, not replacing the axle back, I am replacing the mid.)

Lastly, as long as everything is buckled up tight, I shouldnt get a CEL from the 60606 should I? Anyone receive one from the 60606?

Thanks

I've got the 60606 with s type axleback. I can say that there is no CEL for me if your concern is where the secondary cats used to be.

You will only get a CEL if you have AFM (A8 Trans) valves, or you have a leak in your exhaust.

The 60606 bolts directly to the stock factory system behind the Primary Cats. The suitcase portion of the factory NPP system however will have to be cut in order to mate to the female end of the 60606. If you were installing an axle back you would just connect the pieces with the clamps provided with the axle back system.

**Making the cut will make the install easier. But if you have intentions on going back to factory exhaust you may want to avoid cutting it to keep the stock system whole to avoid having to weld it back should you need to put it back on**

Thanks for the info on the CEL

The cut I am referring to is the one from the suitcase. I want to confirm that it is 7” from the suitcase and that is where it will connect to the 60606

Yes the length is 7 inches. Are you installing the Borla S-Type/ATAK axle back as well?

no, not at this point, just the 60606

Ok gotcha. I did the axle back too, I am not sure how 60606 mates to the suitcase. It may have to be welded. Sorry I couldn't help.

I am going to use this to connect the 60606 to the suitcase:

This is my thought:
1. When installing the Borla Axle back you cut out the suitcase at the 7" mark to attach the new axleback to the stock midpipe.

2. And I also know that the Borla axleback mounts to the 60606 fine
therefore

3. I am thinking that the 60606 will mount to the suitcase, if I make the same 7" cut but keep the suitcase and remove the midpipe

Almost like if A=B and B=C then A=C...but different lol

Your math is spot on.

I also think you're on the right track with a 7" cut. I installed the Black Heart crush delete section to our pipes and the instructs follow- http://documents.holley.com/199r11143.pdf

I'm betting the Borla 60606 will bolt right up to my existing cuts and I also have a set of 2.75 sleeve clamps. A similar set of clamps was provided by Chevy (in a 2.5" size) on the 2010 V6 Gen5 Camaro. It provided alot of versatility (IOW- room to miss!). I think Borla's 2nd cat delete/X-pipe,part #60606 will bolt right up and leave me with a "Crush Delete" kit to sell on the owner's classified parts section.

Keep us posted on your progress- and remember to have fun! :clap2:
You'll be doing away with the same crushed section right at the rear subframe, just beside the differential.

Thinking of going down the same path. Subbed for confirmation and pics if possible. Good luck.

I am traveling for work until the 10th. I will try and get it done the week of the 12th. Pics to come...

60606 is on. Deeper/throater sound is the first thing I noticed...more so on start up and idle than "normal" driving. Under throttle it has more of a growl/cackle. Definitely more snap/crackle/pop, which I like. Works well with the stock NPP, IMO. No regrets. This is the sound I was looking for, perfect for what I want.
