I'm proud to say, that next month our vehicles go into production!!! Ahhh that feels good to say, even though it'll probably be sometime in April before i get it. lol As long as i know there's a good chance i could see a production model at the next car show that will hold me over. Dang on it that car sounds good.

That's not a great sounding exhaust. Not by a long shot.

Apparently none of you have heard a narrow angle VW VR6 or an Audi S4.

I'd be happy to post a vid of my old GTI.

I don't think most people are comparing it to Euro tuner cars, I think we are mostly comparing it to how MOST American V6 cars sound. And compared to just about any V6 to ever come from the Big-3, the DI sound like sweet music. The fun part is that there is even conversation to compare it to the refined exhaust notes of Euro cars.

Just my take on the whole thing.:iono:

Chevy Jim. At launch, GM employees are assigned through our Product Evaluation Program (PEP) early production units which we usually call Captured Test Fleet (CTF). If you refer to some of the photos in the St. Lous post, you can see the special sticker that denotes the car as a CTF. We then evaluate the vehicle and submit any concerns to be addressed prior to the cars going to the customer. It is essentially an early look at the first production cars before they can be shipped to dealers. But CTF is only GM employees from engineering, marketing, quality, manufacturing, etc. Not dealers.

Thanks for your reply. now i have a better understanding. Chevy Jim

I wish we could get that good of audio with the V8, that V6 sounds so damn amazing. The V8 is still the way to go but the V6 brings no shame what so ever to the camaro name.

Seriously? It's youtube. Can you watch videos from www.youtube.com ? The only thing you need is Adobe Flash for it to work. It really can't get much more simple.

twin turboV6 would blow the LS3 out of the water and probably cost the same amount in the end and handel much better.

350 HRSS 01-02-2009 08:23 PM

That sounded GREAT! Excellent take off.....speedy little thing isn't it :chevy:

Umm SS has better suspension.

MaxLegroom 01-03-2009 09:38 AM

Listening to this, I'm remembering how my '85 V6 sounded. Compared to the DI, the '85 was full of wannabe V8 tones. Amusing, but this is so much better.

What is your basis for the handling comment, the weight difference? I'd imagine that there might be a difference of only 50 lbs once you have two turbos, an intercooler, and the required plumbing. Plus much of that weight is up front which will throw off the balance of the car and detract from the handling. Lastly, as others have said, the SS will have a superior suspension.

Number 3 01-03-2009 03:18 PM

Don't forget the brake upgrade that comes with the SS. Brembo brakes are NICE!!!!! Used on Cobalt and HHR SS packages as well as the CTS-V if I am not mistaken. If you want good handling, you need good braking to maximize your performance, particularly on a track.

StarkyLuv 01-03-2009 03:33 PM

I know it's blasphemy, but my Camaro will be my everyday car so I'll basically be driving normally/cruising. It's nice to have the 300+ horses under the hood (I'm getting the 2LT), but I won't be challenging Mustangs at red lights or anything.

And the upgrade in style, power and fuel-mileage from my current vehicle doesn't hurt!

MadeInAmerica19 01-05-2009 10:26 PM

Yeah i agree from the audio that has been provided so far my charger daytona does sound better. But as my old car will have sounded better it will be a lil ways behind me when exhausts dont matter. But i do agree with the hemi sounding better so far.

That v6 sounds nasty. Can't wait for my v8 rumble if that's what the smaller of the two engines sounds like.

Impressive sound and take off. Put a CAI on it and prolly SLP Powerflo II catback exhaust and you can murder some road.
