$5000.00 Markup

Dealer called today told me car was in transit. Will arrive Thursday. I went to the dealership and talked to manager. He informed me the price of the car is $5000.00 over MSRP. Tried in vain to negotiation him down but to no avail. Anybody have suggestions that would help me get the price lower?:iono::iono:http://www.camaro5.com/forums/images/smilies/iono.gif

Is this a car you pre-ordered?
You're just now negotiating price???:paddle:

ShnOmac 04-28-2009 05:57 PM

Not a whole lot you can do..... sorry to say but price should have been in writing before the order.

hellraiser 04-28-2009 05:59 PM

Wait a couple of months..really! If you could hold on till mid summer you will save and pay less than msrp..

CamaroCanuck 04-28-2009 05:59 PM

Sorry long time lurker first time poster. I would suggest you get your down payment back and find another dealer. Second thing I would do is add this dealer to the list of dealers that are trying to rob Camaro enthusiast’s.

When you placed your order you should have had the purchase order signed by your dealer that states the sale price as MSRP.

If not, and they are pulling this stunt on you now, tell them you are canceling immediately, get your deposit back, and find a dealer who will sell to you at MSRP. Plenty are, just find one and tell this jerk to take a hike ;)

Although I want this car badly too, I just absolutely COULD NOT do that to myself and buy that car. I'd never live it down, even if only in my mind.

It's not fair to ask someone to pay that....period. Dealer greed on these cars is out of hand and I don't care who tries to rebut this. There will be tons of people who wouldn't mind paying that and maybe they can afford to pay that and feel ok about it, but to someone who actually works for his money, it's a total load of green:bs:

I would never fall victim to this kind of greed, I would simply go order elsewhere and kick the :bs: to the curb.

that sucks man, find a new dealer maybe one that takes you out to dinner first :)

Ctrain24 04-28-2009 06:07 PM

Post the name of the dealership and add them to the price gouging dealers thread so future buyers can avoid them.

armando416 04-28-2009 06:08 PM

Yeah at this point I wouldnt even bother trying to negotiate. Just go and get your deposit back.

TRENZMAN 04-28-2009 06:13 PM

The manager is an idiot, in the end they screw up everything.

fdjizm 04-28-2009 06:14 PM

if there is a market some sucker will end up paying, you can tell by the bids on ebay... dealers are there to make cash they can care less about morals... most anyway...

Yes spin around the earth like in Superman and go back in time and sign a contract with the dealer when you gave a deposit. Other then that this will be a live and learn thing.
