Any update on the LS3 Heads-and-Cam Kit #19300535

Has anyone heard when this kit is going to be released?

From the 2013 Chevy Performance Parts Catalog:

LS3 High-Performance Heads-and-Cam Kit* NEW
19300535

Increase the power of the LS3 engine in your Corvette or Camaro SS by 40 hp with Chevrolet Performance’s high-performance heads-and-cam kit. Developed by Chevrolet Performance engineers as a direct replacement for the factory- installed heads and camshaft (tuning required), the kit includes our CNC-ported LS3 cylinder heads, which flow more than 350 cfm (intake side), with 276cc intake runners and 2.165”/1.590” valves. The high-lift LS7 camshaft makes the most of the heads’ generous airflow attributes, holding the big valves open so the engine and process more air. This kit fits other LS-family engines with at least 4.000” bores. Contents include the camshaft and fully assembled cylinder heads. Head gaskets and cylinder head bolts must be purchased separately.

40hp out of heads/cam sounds like the biggest ripoff GM has ever sold.

Doesn't look like the catalog is ready yet. I've been looking at the Chevrolet Performance website and they haven't updated or added prices yet.

Gm kit

I have this kit basically, except I have a LS9 cam and I put 430 HP to the wheels on a mustang dyno and 460 on a dyno jet.

1leNPP 05-25-2013 08:25 PM

Onebad1le how do you like your LS9 cam ?

onebad1le 05-25-2013 08:46 PM

LS9 cam

I like it alot, drives like stock and is great for boost /nitrous/ turbo
if u are going n/a only, I would go with a bigger cam.
with the Gm CNC heads and LS9 cam u dont have to buy
springs and push rods, and is still GM RELIABLE , so u save money and can upgrade that stuff later.

1leNPP 05-25-2013 09:03 PM

I got the LS9 cam I am only looking for a small bump in HP (20) in the 4,000 rpm to 6,600 rpm range . I live in calif. so I want to keep it smog legal . Now I just need the car to show up .

do you think the LS9 Cam pick the motor up in that range ? or did you change to much stuff at one time and it hard to tell ?

onebad1le 05-25-2013 09:24 PM

cam results

The cam is worth maybe 20hp but is smog legal--- since u are in cali
---from 0 to 4k - it same as stock, but above 4k to ? it pulls harder.
I got the cam BECAUSE I knew I was gonna boost or nitrous in the future
I will be adding 1.85 RR for some extra lift (610)because my heads flow good there.
and change the springs for some extra RPMs 7k

I lost interest in it when I realized I could get similar manners from a GT11 cam and a pair of Lingenfelter ported heads. It will produce probably 2x's the power. If you are going to lose the warranty why lose it over 40HP?

I still want the ZL1 brakes though...

Cam

I didn't go with that style because of cam lobes are hard on the valve system
Ask (Vader) about how his engine blew up

as per Comp cams
The LSK series has been designed with enhanced characteristics from our latest professional drag racing profiles . These have excellent ramp quickness . They are VERY hard on parts and not recommended in street applications!

KCS 05-29-2013 08:53 AM

Yeah, LSK's are pretty tough on parts, especially with the heavier OEM or aftermarket solid stem valves. They would work well on a low RPM dump truck or something, but not a real performance street engine.

Comp Cams has a pretty good selection of lobes, and even the Cam Motion stuff we've been working with is looking pretty good too. Our last 1LE heads/cam package picked up 96whp and 54ft-lbs of torque with a very small cam.

Besides heads, cam and a tune, what else was included in the package?

Basically just ARH headers, connection pipes, and an underdrive pulley. Some other miscellaneous things like a Melling oil pump, ARP head bolts, 3 bolt cam conversion, etc are also included, but aren't really necessary in the package.
