AUS10BMX's Rally Yellow Camaro

2010 Camaro 2LT

Exterior: Rally Yellow
Interior: Black Leather Seats

3.6L V6, 6-Speed Automatic
VIN #4,205

Fully Loaded, Boston Acoustics, 4 Pack Auxiliary Gauges, Sunroof

Birthday, April 20, 2009
Delivered on Wednesday, May 6, 2009
Debuted at Phelps Chevrolet Saturday, May 9
Brought home Monday, May 11

This 2010 Rally Yellow Camaro was randomly selected and sent to my local Chevy dealership when it was released in Spring of 2009. It was the first 5th Gen. Camaro in Greenville, NC. I saw it for the first time two days after it was delivered, and man was that a awesome looking car. I never would have thought a few days later I would be taking it home as my own.

For about two months or so I was the only one with a new Camaro where I live, and the attention was unreal. People acted pretty crazy over it for a while. A few occasions of people taking pictures going down the road, and even had someone follow me to stop and take a picture in front of it. I also had cops speed up on me to get a look. Of course there was always the "Hey look! It's Bumblebee!".

I have had my car for over 2 years now, and I love everything about it. Since it has a low VIN number, and I have no plans of ever selling it, I have kept major mods to a minimum. I have had a lot of fun with the changes and things I have done to it. I'm also happy that I have kept it rather stock in appearance, but have done enough things to make it unique from others.

Thanks to everyone on Camaro5.com, I love looking at everyones cars and reading your stories about things you have done.

Enjoy!

Thats one VERY nice LT!

AUS10BMX 02-02-2011 05:00 PM

So after looking around these threads for a while I started my lighting project.

First up I went with the fog lights:
6000K LED 5202 Fog Lights - iJDMTOY

I then changed the DRL/Turn Signals:
6000K V-LEDS TYPE 1
Alternating White/Amber Turn Signals - V-LED Type 1
W/ 50 W Resistor - V-LED 50w Resistor

Waiting For:
2010 Camaro ABL LED Kit
-(2) T10 5 LED 3 Chip "ABL" Colored Bulbs (Dome Light/Trunk)
-(2) 15" Long "ABL" Colored Footwell Strips

Camaro License Plate LEDs "White"

All from AAC Lighting

Future Plans:
HOD bulbs from AAC to closely match 6000K.

__________________________________________________ _______________

LED 6000K Fog Lights

These were very easy to instal and turned out great. Just turn your wheel as far as you can, and remove the 3 torque screws holding the wheel liner in place. Pull the liner back, remove the Fog Light harness, replace the new bulb, and turn it on!

http://i575.photobucket.com/albums/s...x/IMG_0878.jpg

DRL Turn Signal LED 6000K

With the Fog Lights installed, and having the DRL on, I could not stand the Amber colored bulbs always on! Completely killed the look. I decided to go with the V-LED switchback lights, and they turned out great! Just pull out your DRL lights, connect the 50w Resistor to the designated wires, plug in your new LED bulb. I disconnected the positive battery cable also.

For NON-RS Only (RS equipped requires different wiring to work properly, search)

Back in January I installed a sub and amp. I custom made the sub box, and also made a amp rack that I traced to fit the side wall of the trunk. Also ran a amp bass remote knob up under the steering wheel.

LED fogs are awesome, super bright, and 6K is a perfect color.

I just bought the 6k Fogs for my 2002 lol

AUS10BMX 04-04-2011 08:31 PM

I got "super white" HOD headlight bulbs from AAC.

Since these are not true HID's they do not match 100%, but I knew that going into it. I guess this is as close as your going to get, as I did not like the thought of HID's going out.

After over a year of debating and looking at many types of axel backs for the V6, finally will be getting rid of those big heavy mufflers! Ordered the JBA axel backs. Will be losing some weight in the rear, deeper sound, and 4" stock looking tips!

Attachment 247649

Should have them next week.

Thanks! I cant wait to hear it... thats the only thing that sucks about picking a exhaust and not having one in person to hear.

Im just using R1 drilled and slotted rotors, stock brakes and pads, and the MGP caliper covers. Most don't like the idea of covers, but for the V6 I think they look nice. Plus I didn't wanna paint my calipers. I think I have a pic. Attachment 248054

V6 represent! I keep saying this, but this may be my last mod  I'm pretty happy with how it's looking, just had to get rid of that stock exhaust. Although I know something else will come along that I will add, haha! Your car looks amazing by the way!

JBA Axle-Back Exhaust V6
4" Dual Wall tips
#40-3116

After having the car for over 2 years now, I finally decided to get an exhaust. For over a good year now I have been going through all these threads in the V6 section debating on what exhaust to get. I fount the JBA axle back and was really impressed with how it looked, and with how it sounded from what videos I did see of it. So I said what the heck, Ill go for it!

Heres some pics!

Review:
The JBA's together weigh 38lb. so 19lb. each. The stock ones each feel almost 30lb.! So its a weight saver for sure.

I really like the 4" tips! They have a really nice stock look, kinda like the SS tips, but better looking in my opinion.

You cannot see the mufflers at all, very well hidden behind the fascia.

An exhaust like this should have been on this car from the factory... I think it's the perfect type.

Sound:
I haven't had a lot of time with driving it yet, but from I have heard so far I like. It has a nice deep sound to it. It's kind of exotic, and hard to describe.

The cabin sounds great! No drone from I have experienced so far.

The car always seems to get through launch a lot quicker. It seems like it cuts right through the initial bog when you first put your foot in it, so I'm sure there is some horse power gains.

So far I'm happy, but still gotta break them in, and go for some long cruises to see what they are really like! :happyanim:

AUS10BMX 07-07-2011 09:18 PM

Ordered my RX Performance catch can today! Gonna get one in Rally Yellow to match.

With all this ingestion being discovered I decided to be safe and get one!

AUS10BMX 07-14-2011 07:14 PM

It always bothered me when I would open the hood and see a nice engine bay, but the strut towers were just the Rally Yellow base coat, and looked very bland.

When my car was received, one of the guys at my dealer wrote the date they got it, and how it was the first 5th Gen they received.

I used spray paint from Autozone by Krylon called Sun Yellow, and I couldn't believe how close it matches. I was kinda nervous to do it at first, but it went on just fine, and turned out great!

Thanks for checking it out. I love the turn signals, they are one of my favorite light mods.

The LT engine in the V6 is known to be one of the worst to ingest oil in the intake manifold. When I checked mine it had some, but others have had a whole lot! So i decided to grab one to be safe. RX is great to deal with if you wanna get one, I'd do so!

shevyman 07-22-2011 11:03 PM

i just might look into one. cause when i took my intake tubing off for the sc there was a little oil. the dealer said that is normal. i mean it was little when i wiped it off i really did not see where it was on the rag.

A close friend and mechanic that works at my dealership said it is normal as well for any vehicle... Some were getting so much filled up though that it was ingesting right into the engine. I should now have zero getting in so... Even if it wasn't needed, doesn't hurt.

Went to my first car show today down in Jacksonville, NC. Camaro South put on a pretty good event, but then it got rained on and was cut short. Got top 25 out of some 40+ cars. They weren't able to judge for interior and engine bay sine the rain. Was still a pretty good time seeing so many cars, I'll post a link later for the event pictures.

Im pretty happy with where I'm at on it right now... I might get the new CNC ported throttle body, and also try and get some halo headlights as well.
