2011 2SS/RS Owners Please Chime In

Thinking about a 2011 2SS/RS 6M Inferno Orange VIN#2G1FT1EW7B9135434

Just trying to see if the previous model year problems have been addressed by GM and fixed in the 2011 model, specifically the 2SS/RS 6M.

If the 2011 owners would chime in I would appreciate it, im about 2 weeks away from making a decision on a new vehicle so any help would be appreciated.

If anyone can let me in on any info build date etc on that above VIN thanks in advance. I know it has the red leather seating and the Hurst short thow shifter.

So far just the chipping paint on the trunk (under the spoiler)

Thanks for the reply, is it being taken care of under warranty?

How is the shifting? No grinding etc?

The one im looking at was invoiced from GM on 11/10/10 so im thinking late October early November build date.

mine was built on 9/27

i have a grind when shifting to second under semi-to hard acceleration until the trans warms up.

im going to be taking it in to have it looked at.

yeah I have the grind until the tranny warms up too, I just figured that was normal though, is that an issue? as far as my 2011 SIM 2SS/RS I've had few issues. Other than the rattling trunk under heavy bass (easily fixed by weather-stripping) and a slight rattling coming from the gauge cluster due to the plastic not being flush with the dash...minor things but I love the car :)

Just had flat rally stripes sprayed and had them touch up the spots. I don't want the dealer touching it..

Shifting is fine if you let it warm up. I baby it until the oil temp comes up.

Yep, 1st to 2nd is notchy till warmed up, then its fine. No other issues.:)

i have a 1ss and it's notchy going from first to second when it's cold, have ground it a few times. it's smooth as butter after it warms up though.

I bought my 2010 IOM 2SS/RS LS3 on Sept 12, 2009, I am not sure of build date but the car just arrived to the dealer. I have had the clutch stick to the floor about 3 times SMOKING the clutch, and I NEVER USED THE LAUNCH MODE, as I KNOW HOW TO SHIFT A CAR AND HOW TO LAUNCH IT. Even though I NEVER raced it...The rearend is somewhat fried also. The dealer says its OK but I DON'T THINK SO. The heated drivers seat stopped working about a month ago, thats when I HAD ENOUGH and brought the car in. I told them to KEEP IT as long as they had to, GET IT RIGHT or I might have to go to extremes. I MUST protect OTHERS by informing them of the PROBLEMS this car is having. JUST THE FACTS, JUST THE FACTS.

I would have bought the Automatic IF they offered the LS3 with it, but I didnt want cylinder deactivation. NO WAY.

Think before you get one. THINK HARD.

Aug....slight trans grind when cold...minor problem with window motor/electronics

PFC_Wilcox 12-29-2010 10:17 AM

The grind is normal with any performance transmission. ALWAYS let your camaro warm up completely before nailing the throttle. Allow the thermal expansion to take place or there is a possibility of gouging your cylinder walls and even the cam. Be careful when it's cold! An engine and tranny at temp makes for a smooth shifting and lots of power. It's designed that way.

Thanks for all the responces guys, they sold my inferno orange one but I found a red jewel one and this one has the sunroof I wanted so im leaning towards getting it. Still a 2011 2SS/RS 6M with the Hurst short throw in it.

I know all first year vehicles have there issues and this seems to be the same here.

Appreciate all the help.
