2009 Camaro Watch

The world first saw the Chevrolet Camaro concept car at
the 2006 Detroit Auto Show. It was an instant success,
enthusiasts from around the world asking when the production
version would be ready for sale. With innovations
and options never before seen in a pony car, the concept
car had everyone excited to see what the production version
would bring. Since that show, Chevrolet engineers
have been working tirelessly to deliver to you the greatest
Camaro ever produced.

The return of the Chevrolet Camaro may well be the most
anticipated automotive launch in the history of General
Motors. Like you, the engineers at GM Performance Parts
are excited to not only drive a Camaro but to modify the
Camaro for extreme street use, drag racing applications,
and road racing.

First, here is what we know about Camaro: You should
be able to buy your Camaro in early 2009. There will be
at least one V-6 and V-8 model offered. We know that the
convertible Camaro will be out later in the 2009 year. The
car will come with an advanced independent rear suspension
offering an incredible ride quality. Beyond that, we’ll
have to wait to tell you more.

I like what they had to say about all the available performance stuff. Just makes me that much more impatient.

Well, its nothing new, but it is reassuring to hear none the less.

I love looking throught gmpp crate engines, looking at the torque lines (not all have 'curve') and reading their possible applications for their engines, such as for the 572

Great find! Its good to know that they are eager to get their hands on one. Their parts dont void any warranty and actually come with a warranty, right?

^From what I understand, it doesn't void the warranty. I believe you can order your car w/ special GM performance parts, take delivery from the factory, and have it all under warranty. It only makes sense to do it that way for GM. They know that aftermarket is a big business. Why not get in it now, make chingos of dollars, and make sure it's done right from the beginning. If SLP were installing special aftermarket exhuast kits on the SS's back in the day, then why can't GMPP do the same?

Yep...I bet it'll happen...all w/ a warranty.

DGthe3 summed it up for me - not new, but reassuring. And agreed about waiting to buy. I'm glad things are looking like end of 2009 or early 2010 for my purchase.

FINALLY these Manufactures are seeing the Value in the Aftermarket

Even the 500hp FR SUPER PACK add-on (Catch is that it has to be installed by Ford)

^yep thats the catch they have to be installed by one of the companys licensed mechanics (dealer mechanics) in order for it to not void the warranty therefore they make even more $$$$ off the parts

Yeah, I think you can get 500+ horse out of a Mustang through Ford. I believe Roush still has Ford's warranty through their Stage III S/C package.

The Camaro's performance future certainly looks bright :)

That's why the GMPP will be more expensive than the aftermarket... some of that money goes into a warranty $ pool that they use to cover any failures. But with the resources of GM behind it, I DOUBT you'd see any... the engineers know what their doing.

And this is generally awesome news!
