Hole on back of muffler

I'v been saying to myself all along that what I'm seeing coming out of the exhaust is condensation heat and cold air but can anyone tell me what the hole is for? Looks like a drain hole. And it's spotting the garage floor pretty regulary.
I'm sure it's normal but can anyone tell me where all the oily shean is coming from? .....:noidea::noidea:

Hole is Normal, oil sheen not. Are you sure it's oil and not carbon?

..you answered your own question, it's a drain hole for moisture. The dark material in the water that excreted after warm-up is carbon. All normal.

Probably carbon since it wipes off fairly easy. I've got 3000 miles on it and it's been doing it since day one. But that's a lot of crap coming out of the exhaust, but then this is my first ride with a supercharger on it so that maybe the difference. Thanks

Thanks Scott, now I feel a little more at ease.

Do you have a catch can?

OldScoolCamaro 05-27-2013 08:05 PM

...if you don't stand on it occcassionaly, and only run it a low speed carbon accumulates in the exhaust system. Blowing out the buildup once in awhile will eliminate this stain on your floor.

No but it's my next mod. trying to get all the bolt on mods that I can get that will actually benefit the car. Will it eliminate the carbon build up?

kalamajama 05-27-2013 08:12 PM

Thanks all for quick imput......:happy0180:

OldScoolCamaro 05-27-2013 08:13 PM

...no, the catch can will eliminate the oil ingestation into the super charger and intake manifold. The oil buildup will degrade your engine performance over time, but not lead to a stain in the water condensation dropping to the floor during normal warm up.

ayousef 05-27-2013 08:29 PM

did you remove your catalytic converters? Also does the car have a tune in it perhaps?

OldScoolCamaro 05-27-2013 08:40 PM

..it's carbon buildup in the factory exhaust system....it's need to not idle so much, not be be thought of like a passenger vehicle, or babied. It will build up and accumulate carbon over time unless one stands on it and blows it out of the system. That, or it's throwing a CEL for running rich.
