Radio hot?
 

I have had my car for 8 months now and this is the first time I have tried this. I was down in the garage and sat in my car, no keys with me. I decided to hit a few of the radio buttons to see if the time would display like a lot of GM's do. My radio came on! I was even able to hit config and change my dates. I closed and opened the door and the radio would still play. I turned it on and off several times. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the radio be on a 20 min timer or turn off when a door is opened?

DAB is 10 minutes, I believe - Delayed Accessory Bus...And yes, DAB stopped when driver's door is opened. I don't think the passenger door opening kills the DAB.

The owners manual says it will play 10 minutes at a time with no key in the ignition.

Yes but this was from two days of sitting in the garage without being started and no key in the ignition, drivers door open!

Maybe its not that smart, it will work for 10min even if the keys haven't been in it for a week, you still get 10min of play time till its used up???

Use to know a guy who left his radio on all the time. Car would be parked out front for hours, windows down and the radio on, not loud but one.

He could never get why everyone thought he was a loon ;)

yes the Camaro's radio and the newer GM cars/trucks are designed so you can play the radio without ever putting the key in the ignition. If you leave the door open before you turn it on, it will play for 10 minutes. If you get in, and close the door before you turn it on it will play for 10 minutes or until you open the door. I think it will only play twice this way before you have to start the car but what you are describing is the way it is designed.
