day time running lights

I was driving into work this morning, and I put my blinker on to turn into the parking lot. after parking I sat there for a few minutes then a buddy of mine walked up to me and said he had noticed that once I turned on my blinker that my lights went off. I assume since its day time running lights that this normal but want to check and see if anybody knows for sure or not.

A lot of new vehicles are doing this these days... And I hate it... I didn't know the 14's did it though. In fact, I keep forgetting to check mine to see if it does it.

Mine subdues the halo ring on the side that I have the turn signal going on. It still lights, just much darker. Mine is a '14 SS/RS.

I originally thought the halo went out all together, but it just dims it significantly. Or at least that is what it looks like on mine.

Im going to find a window (to see the reflection) today and see for myself whats going on.

On '14 RS, if you have your fog lamps on the halo will dim. No fogs the halo will turn off.
