Top Issues with 2012 Camaros? Curious...

I purchased a new 2012 Camaro vs a 2013 because of lower cost and rebates...

Question is - are there still issues with the tops with the Camaros????

Your car may have the redesigned roof if it was built after 4/1/2012. Do you know the build date of your car?

I took this from another thread. If you pop the hood there is a sticker on the passenger side of the cross member close to the computer and fuse box. There is another one right by your rear differential.

What are the stickers for? (forgive my ignorance)

I am getting INCREDIBLY nervous - as some have directed me to some Facebook groups, other posts and etc.

I live at an apartment and have no garage... and I don't want to go through the nightmares that people are going through.

I have already put down part of my down payment and signed paperwork...

I intend on keeping this car for quite a while.... and the way people are sounding off - makes me feel VERY uncomfortable...

I have a 2012 built 8/11 and I have not had any problems with mine. We have over 10,000 miles on it and love it. Some have had problems but most have not. Enjoy your car and don't worry about it, when I read these post they had me scared to.

The stickers will give you an approximate build date for your car within a few days.

Is your Camaro garaged?

I owned a 2010 Synergy Green Camaro... and I regret every moment that I sold it.

What is the general lifespan of the tops that these Camaro's have and potential cost to replace?

Mine was built about the same time yours was and I also have close to 10,000 miles and several hundred top cycles and no problems.

OP if you start worrying about problems others have had and you haven't you won't be able to enjoy the car. My suggestion is to enjoy your car and worry about problems as they happen. My daddy always said don't worry about things you can't control, it only keeps you from enjoying the things you can control.

Also,

"Another problem with verts are they are weaker becuase they don't have the structor of a metal roof. They put extra braces under the car to try make up but what happens is after several miles the car will loosen up and you will have tons of squeaks."

How true is this?

Yes, I keep it garaged and stored in the winter. Got it out for the first time yesterday, forgot how much fun it is.

Couldn't have said it better, to many trolls on here???

I also have a '12 that was built on 8/11 and have no holes or other issues other than the 'v' marks over the doors. I have just under 17k miles on it.

Can't answer your question about general lifespan, but it would cost mucho dinaro to pay to have it replaced. I hope that you got a decent warranty with yours.

My Camaro is not garaged and it's my everyday driver. I had water on the Passenger side of the floor, but it was from the door seal, dealer replaced that and no other issues.

There was a TSB in March or April of '12 for the dealers to cut a piece of a bracket and put some 3M tape on to help with the wear marks, you should go to a decent dealer and have them run your numbers to see if this was done.

Look at the sticker inside the driver's door jamb, this has the month/year that your Camaro was built.....or look at the stickers as shown above.

Good luck with it, I love bangin' the gears on mine!! :)

I wouldn't call them trolls, just bitter and disgruntled. I can understand because many feel like they were used as beta testers for the convertibles and had a hard time getting satisfaction when they had problems.
