2012/2013 cold air intake

So from what I'm hearing from some people the new ecm doesn't like more air flow... So my question is can someone post up before and after dyno numbers for a 2012/2013 intake only no tune or other mods!!!

alcal1084 09-13-2012 09:06 PM

nobody knows the answer to this?

It's the same ecm. I haven't heard of anything like this. We've had plenty of 2012s with all kind of intakes with no issues.

We are selling more 2012-13 V6 Camaro units than any other application right now, there are no issues. 16 rwhp gain over stock in our testing. Let me know if you have any questions, If I am not on this thread anymore than PM me.

According to Vararam the 12+ e38 does not take kindly to any kind of ram air effect, which is why their new intake design appears like a more traditional intake in its naked form... Search for the 2012 Vararam thread, VR explains it there... Lots of debate... I am unsure if this rumor is true though.

Thank you for the response that why I ask the question if Vararam is taking the trouble to redo their design and come out with a product that works... Why is it that other company's are not haveing any issues if someone has has an CAI intake, newera, or any other intake on a 2012/2013 I would like to see some numbers proving they work!!!

Have you looked at the differences between the 2012/13 engine bays and the previous models? If you had, you'd know that there was a change in the position of the radiator cap. Seeing that VR is the ONLY CAI that chose to make their CAI the way they did, they are the ONLY company affected by they change. No need to change something that works for all year models. I haven't heard of the newer years PCM not liking "ram air" but then again, I try to stay out of the VR threads.

Who said the new PCM doesn't like more airflow?

Dan2510 09-14-2012 11:59 PM

Varam said it.

Don't forget the New Era is a similar design to the Vararam. It appears that the radiator cap was moved toward the passenger side, so New Era didn't have to change their design.

Hense the reason I said VR made theirs like no one else. :D

Is NE having any issues with the newer car PCM's?

Not liking more airflow and not liking the way VR introduces the airflow are two different things.

Thanks for choosing Cold Air Inductions Inc.! Yes it works perfectly with the same gains as the 2010-2011 version, the only difference is the shape of the housing for the MAF connection. Like I mentioned before, the 2012-13 V6 Camaro system is currently our biggest seller with many very happy customers!

As for all the talk here about the design needing to change for this model, the only change that had to ne made for our design was the the MAF housing, which was changed. Other CAI designs may be having other issues, our design is good to go and available for purchase at the following link: http://www.coldairinductions.com/sto.../2012?___SID=U

Thanks!!
