this is a fourth gen subforum

the SS is faster as i it comes with a few SLP mods

either will be alot of fun to drive. though, buy whatever you can afford.

z28 hands down. unless you can get a steal on an SS, 90% of the SS owners think their cars are Super Special and will ask more than they are worth.

whats your spending limit? how far are you willing to drive to get one?

my z28 ran 12.74 compared to my SS which runs 12.88 (best times)....and I've only taken the SS out to the track once.

Oh, and the Z had the loudmouth exhaust on it with a y pipe. But, my opinion? SS has better looks....but both run equally the same.

You can't go wrong with either the Z of the SS. ;)

"Performance wise", mods can make them virtually the same.

The decision is which model do you like the looks of better. The "90% of SS owners" comment, re; "think their cars are Super Special" is a little exagerrated ;).

You can find SS's out there (I know of a few), just as reasonable as Z's.

When I was looking to buy a 4th gen car, I found that the SS cars were more expensive than the Z28 models. Virtually the same car, just a different hood. I bought my 2001 Z28 from the original owner for $6300. Most SS cars were twice that in the same condition. If I want it to look like an SS all I have to do is buy an SS hood.

Just for the heck of it, I quickly checked EBAY...I didn't see the big discrepency between Z and SS prices. :iono: As I said, if you want to do the "leg work", you can find just as reasonable SS's as Z's.

The_Blur 10-28-2008 03:00 PM

There is no Z28 this time. Get a Camaro SS.

Well....in my area there is a difference.

Quick answer...both are just as fast.

I know...I've owned both. Same year model.

Moose 10-28-2008 03:35 PM

I've owned both as well, a Z28 and an SS.

Bottom line; whatever your budget allows. ;)

(I think we've beaten this to death now.)
