Most use vertical door kits. I have vertical door kit and zero problems for over 2 years now.

Sweet thanks. The other kit from LSD looks very well made, but has harness extenders and I'm not too keen on having to splice everything. It's twice the price as well. SO I'll give my guy both options and let him know people have had good results with the Verticals. :)

LMAO on that poster!

With the kit you can open like a regular door and not have to go up....right?

I don't think they look bad but I don't want them, just not my taste.

OK, I have just read over 35 pages of posts about this. I am a 33 year old man who appreciates both the classic muscle car look and modern performance looks.

No matter your opinion, the facts are that this is a car that is new and modern with hints of that old school look about it. Older gentlemen appreciate it for its style. Newer gentlemen appreciate it for its modern look. People in the middle such as myself appreciate it for both reasons.

That being said. The history of "Lambo Doors" was not only about looks but also about class and expensive looks. If you were around for the original 80's Lambos, you will remember what you felt when you first laid eyes on those doors. And it was not about ricing.

Now with that also being said. "Ricers" only took that look of lambo doors because in the past people remembered how other people felt about those doors when they saw them. Ricers want to have in their cheap cars what the high class people had in their expensive cars. This is the definition of a poser. Someone who is posing as if they are rich and have a lot of money. Posers and ricers are synonymous.

Now with that being said. The camaro is a modern car. It is also an expensive car. It is not Lambo expensive, but enough so that your average Joe is not going to afford one. This elevates us Camaro owners to a slightly higher status.

One more thing before I drop my point is that some of our Camaros are so modern, that it is impossible to make it sound like an older muscle car. V6 LFX engines anyone? Even with exhaust upgrades, it still sounds like a performance ricer. I have no hope to make it sound deep like that. It only looks like an old school muscle car. So do not knock people for doing such an upgrade when it can never be a true musclecar, only an imitation one. If you have an SS and sounds good, I wouldn't do this upgrade, true muscle car status is acheivable for your car.

So finally, my point. Lambo doors look good on this car because of its lines, shape, and heft, and is in an elevated class that most people will not afford. Including ricers and posers. You are not posing with these doors. It is a nice looking upgrade and fits the car. If you think it looks like a ricer, then it only shows your ignorance towards the history of cars, and I will embarrass you should you laugh at my Camaro when I get it done.

The beauty of this car and what GM has managed to achieve is that this gen Camaro truly can look good both ways. There is room enough for younger, older, and middle age alike to mod this car their way, and it looks good in those ways. This also elevates this cars status even higher and will make this car more unique for everyone and worth more 30 years from now. No one will care about the older 4th gen because it just looks like crap no matter what is done to it.

Can we all agree?

I beg to differ.

You can beg to differ all you want, but the proof is in the sound, and while you can achieve some deepness with solo cats and mrtv2, it is not even close to what it should be to achieve true muscle car status. That may change once someone tackles the header problem the LFX engines have. Once aftermarket headers come out,(if) we may be able to achieve that sound, but until then, not gonna happen.

Had my vertical doors installed yesterday at VDI in Corona. Their professionalism in all areas was impressive. The installers and sales rep were fantastic. I couldn't be happier with the entire process and the doors look amazing. I would absolutely recommend them. I'll post pics when I get back to Arizona.

People still install vertical doors on cars?! Isn't this 2014 almost 2015?! I thought this trend died with this thread.

Your Camaro is SO freekin' cool, dude. Just the right amount of badass without over doing it. I love that color green and the matching rims just makes the whole thing so sick. And if you've noticed my avatar, I'm a fan of the vertical doors too. :D

So of course I gotta ask: where'd the rims come from? And did you paint them or did you have them painted?

Libertypilot 10-29-2014 09:19 AM

I just noticed that guy LIM hasn't posted since 2011. I guess I shouldn't expect a reply...

Lambo doors... the one mod my wife was excited about! The one mod everybody else freaks out over when they see it. people ask me if I spent $20k on the conversion and I just laugh and say no. I just need to add forced induction to make up for the extra weight now. I installed my fender vents at the same time and did not have to remove any fenders during installation.

Mine are from VDI.
