1968 SS hood grills installed on 2010 SS.

I still had the hood inserts from my 1968 SS Camaro so I Powder Coated them black and installed them on my 2010. Sorry about the quality, I just put them on today and this is from my Camera phone.

The inserts have long enough post to install them but it is an all day job getting it right. The underside of the hood is definitely not made for this modification but with the Procharger sucking air off the exhaust I thought something was needed.
There is No 3M Tape here it is attached with the factory clips that come with the hood inserts. A custom seal was made to accomodate the curve of the 2010 hood. It is only 5/8" above the hood but the shadow from the head on shot makes it look higher.

Here is what the Original 1968 SS hood looks like, the Cowl is smaller than the 2010.

That looks hot!! Where can you buy those? Did you cut the hood to install those?

jamesfl 10-15-2009 04:22 PM

Yes

I am sure that you can buy them at any classic part dealer, I have had them for years. Yes, you need to cut and drill the hood.

Very nice!! Good job it looks bad ass

UCI CamaroFan 10-15-2009 06:04 PM

would look better if the hood did not have that cowl mohawk thing... like the SS hoods on the oldschool camaros.

mfr1950 10-15-2009 06:09 PM

Neat idea!! Your Camaro is now unique!!
