Black Wheel Question:

I took one of my wheels off today to take it in to get the tire replaced (F-ing nail). I noticed this before and chalked it up a brake dust, but anyone else notice GM really went thin on the paint? The only part that has a good black covering are the spokes. Im a little disappointed to say the least. I have black rims on my other car that have a better finish and are 1/3 the cost of these. Is this normal?? :yikes:

Here are some pictures

Looks like i got a free polished lip on mine. :sm0: i also noticed the "CAMARO" is faded quite a bit.

Yeah mine are the same way. So thin at the center of the rim its almost translucent.

Almost no paint inside the lug nut holes. I was going to ask the same question.

Looks like we are all in the same boat. when you have a dark colored car like me or a black one the discoloration sticks out like a sore thumb. wonder if warranty will cover repaint?

And here I thought black wheels were the way to go! :mad0260:

Maybe powder coat them!! :iono:

I know I ordered black, and I'm pretty picky about things, so of it bugs me, I may just have them powder coated and throw in my body color as an accent!!

Yes very thin. I posted a thread on this forum or another asking for feedback as well. Its comforting to see others are experiencing the same thing. I think GM needs to step up and fix this issue.

Adding paint to the inboard side of the rim costs more $. More in extra processing - not the cost of the extra paint itself. Most wheels wont have it from gm. Most customers wont notice anyway. How many of u noticed before removing the wheel from the car? My bet is that if it gets to a gm regional rep they wont pay based only on that... but if your camaro logo is thin looking, they better!
