Redline Motorsports ZL1 goes 10.32 @ 134.7 MPH [with video]

Well after three days of bad weather the guys at PBIR were nice enough to let us get some runs in.

First pass off the trailer we went 10.73@132.3
Second pass was 10.37@134.2
Third pass was 10.32@134.7!!!!!!

60' foot on the good run was the best one at 1.54.

There is more in it and we were happy for another night of baselining...still at track and will upload video tonight!

At the track now? Private rental I guess? I'm thinking of going wednesday

hognutz 04-23-2012 09:55 PM

Car has alot of mods for sure. cam, longtubes, intake, pulley, tune, sticky tires, etc. I think it is still stock blower though. there is a clip of the car running on the dyno sounds wicked.

that is still just wicked fast. Awesome job.

We have a pretty good relationship with the track so they let us to reach our goals tonight.

Dunno bout you guys but personally, the interior of a car is extremely important... How fast it goes in a straight line, not so much... and the 2013 GT500's interior is trash compared to the ZL1...

Video of Redline Motorsports' ZL1 running 10.32 @ 134.79 mph

http://www.roadtesttv.com/hot-news-2...ne-performance

Even though the 2012 ZL1 Camaro barely hit the showroom floors of dealers, tuners are already wrenching on the ZL1′s 580 horsepower 6.2 liter supercharged LSA to unleash more power. Hennessey, Lingenfelter and Redline Motorsports seem to be in a race against the clock to see who can be the first tuner to make the ZL1 the fastest. Lingenfelter recently ran the 1/4 mile in 11.03 with their modded ZL1. Then Lingenfelter raised the bar by laying down a 10.79 @ 134 mph. Well, tonight there is a new sheriff in town since Redline Motorsports shattered Lingenfelter’s 10.79 with a 10.32 @ 134.7 mph at Palm Beach International Raceway in Jupiter, Florida.

The blistering 10.32 run was made with a full weight ZL1, using its stock 1.9 liter blower, stock heads, catalytic converters with a density altitude of well over 1000 feet. The ZL1′s mods include a Redline Motorsports proprietary camshaft, upper and lower pulleys, headers, improved heat exchanger, cold air intake, performance torque converter and Mickey Thompson drag radials. This bad ZL1 makes well over 750 horsepower and 700 ft-lbs of torque.

Redline Motorsports recently moved its corporate headquarters to Florida and has been an industry leader in modifying late model vehicles including Camaros, Corvettes and CTSVs. Redline’s vehicles have been featured in numerous magazines including GM High Tech Performance, Vette, Hemmings Muscle Machines and Hot Rod. Redline’s President, Howard Tanner (who BTW drives a 1200 hp twin turbo Z06), assured us that this is just the tip of the iceberg as there is much more power to come from their ZL1 Camaro.

The RoadTest article claims this:

The blistering 10.32 run was made with a full weight ZL1, using its stock 1.9 liter blower and catalytic converters with a density altitude of well over 1000 feet. The ZL1′s mods include a Redline Motorsports proprietary camshaft, upper and lower pulleys, headers, improved heat exchanger, cold air intake, performance torque converter and Mickey Thompson drag radials. The sound of this car is just incredible from idle to WOT. Great numbers considering what has been done to this car for mods.

That's friggin' awesome, Howard! ... 'Funny how the writer states the run was made with stock cats, but further down they mention headers. I seriously doubt the stock cats part, but if I'm wrong, I'll give Howard $20 for gas money (as if he needs it; LOL)

4fbodys 04-24-2012 08:51 AM
