What do you use to cause water to bead or run off easily on your glass?

I have used ordinary car waxes in the past, but the latest Meguiar's Ultimate seemed to wear off very very fast.

I've tried Rainx in the past, but had the same results of it not lasting long at all.

What do you use?

belive it or not.....I just use waterless wash on my windows and clean them with ADAM's Detail spray when needed...... that it and mine bead up all the time, never had an issue of it wearing off..... since where I live, I get a few DEAD bugs every day......so IN clean my windshield at least twice a week. works as good as Rain-X.

I had tried the Meguiar's Detail Spray and it didn't do anything to bring back beading of the water. I know...it's probably different since it's not Adam's. :) I looked at the Adam's Glass Sealant, but it's not cheap and I've read a couple of posts that it didn't last long.

I also think that the left over windshield washer fluid I have in has a de-icer (daily MN driver) in it...that may have stripped the waxing off.

Wiper fluid will be very high in alcohol, especially a de-icer, which will strip pretty much anything that you apply. I'd flush the system first, refill with something a little less harsh for the summer months, then apply a glass sealant.

What would you suggest that would be less harsh, not that I've ever used my fluid yet, but just in case.

Any washer fluid is going to have some alcohol in it... thats just the deal. A de-icer or winter specific fluid will be much higher in alcohol content to prevent freezing/remove ice.

I personally just don't use mine at all. Aside from stripping sealant, they're messy... i keep a glass towel and glass cleaner at the ready and just clean the glass as needed on the road.

I've used RainX in the past but i'm now an Adams Glass Sealant user :thumbsup:

I have had my Camaro nearly 3 years......and I too, have NEVER needed put fluid in washer......for the very reason Dylan stated above.

I really like Adams glass sealant. Heard good things about Wolfs sealant too.

I've been using DryWashNguard for years on my vette, just sprayed the waterless spray on all windows and there you go. You must use a bathroom towel to get the best results. Micro Fiber is not the greatest.

I also used it on some of my house windows and water just won't stick to the glass.
I was out of stock for a few years since I could'nt find a reseller in the Province of Quebec. Found one in Ontario last fall and I will do my windows next week when I'll do my big spring clean-up.

LOL, hold the wheel I'm getting the windshield is what I pictured, at speed, say 60-75, when someone covers your wind screen with muck and no rain and wiper not enough...it happens down this way, either dusty or muddy around here....but yes I try to min the wiper fluid use..
