V6 Rival..I think I could have found it.

Well Surprisingly My friend called me today telling me of good news! He got a new car, So I was excited to see what he got. He rolls up in a brand New Hyundai Genesis 2 door V6 Coupe. I laughed at first but then he told me of all it's features. 306 horse power, Brembo Brakes, Rear Drive, limited slip differential . Took it for a test drive, it was a six speed. Damn can this thing launch.
In articles i read this thing can go 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds. But when Timed we were doing 5.0. This thing has balls. it's being called the mustang killer. But I think this would be a great opponent for the camaro. :chevy:

Its a few tenths quicker than the Camaro V6. But also 2000 more expensive (and even more for the 3.8 track).

For that 2,000 I could get almost 75 horses added to my V6 camaro. And it'll look better too.

well he doesn't have the turbo one but i can't imagine how much fast a turbo one would go. but i'am just saying for stock run. I'm pretty impressed at what Hyundai can do...I mean come on..its Hyundai...i don't think anyone expects that haha

Oh ha Usually t stands for turbo on the foreign cars. I'm not sure though. But he said he paid 28 for the car. Which I honestly don't think is a bad price for whats in the car. the thing syncs up with is phone and ipod, really sharp interior, hid lights. over all a nice car for 28. the camaro is also fairly priced

It is almost bizarre for Hyundai to offer a car like the Genesis. Strangest part to me is they don't offer the V8 in the coupe, on the sedan it's a $5k upcharge which would put it starting at $30k for 375 horses, ~3650 lbs (given the +264 lbs for the V8 on the sedan). Maybe I'm wrong but I would think the coupe market would be even more interested in the extra horses than the sedan market.

I think they were more interested in meeting a certain price point. Which makes sense.

Edmunds put them head to head. almost a dead heat, Price to Camaro

Italianwhiplash 03-25-2009 12:05 PM

I think it's great for the price. i've never seen the interior of v6. but for the price of the car it should be great

dougmac 03-25-2009 01:51 PM

The V8 from the Sedan will not fit under the hood of the Genesis Coupe. There is a Turbo model, but it is a 210 HP 2.0L 4 cyl. and is considered the base model ... base price is $22,000 + $750 freight/delivery charge.

3.8L V6 car is 300 lbs. lighter than the Camaro, 2.0T is another 100 lighter.

I've been following the release of this car and it is very nice in & out. I was thinking this may be my next new car until all the recent info & tests of the V6 Camaro.

I'm a Mustang guy, so I'll be checking out the 2010 Mustang V6, both of the Genesis models, as well as the V6 Camaro. But from what I've been reading, a 1LT or 2LT V6 w/ MT will probably be the big winner.

Interior is much better quality (just check out their site, pretty cool actually). Honestly, most other cars have got better interiors than what we've got for our camaros.

However, I do trust Motor Trend, and their vids say 5.5 secs
So, i think we've still got them on the line.

You could also buy a 93 Camaro V6 for $2,000 and for $20,000 get almost another 800 horses added to it. ;)

It's like someone asking me why I bought a Z06 instead of a regular corvette. Because it's a Z06. I'm guessing there are very few people looking to buy a car that have a Genisis and Camaro as their two options with price and performance as their concern.
