One thing OnStar Can Not Help With.

Hey guys .... so i got my car last week! Been driving it around town alot and it's amazing how much attention I get .. blows me away!

So Tuesday I drove all the way out to Greenville with my husband to look at a motorcycle he was interested in. On the way back we ran into those storms that came through DFW. I had no idea it was even going to rain!

So there we are in south dallas, frantically calling OnStar to have them find us shelter when I giant gust of 85mph wind hit us blowing all the debris on the side of the road into my car. It was so strong I would have sworn it was a small tornado since it wasnt even raining yet!

We sought shelter under a bridge (fearing hail) stayed there until the storm passed. Believe it or not OnStar stayed on the phone with us until, but I sure wish they could have given me some direction as to where I could take cover from the storm before the car was damaged.

Drove the car home and too afraid to look for damage I had a big glass of wine and went to bed. The next morning I drove to the dealership to have the body shop take a look at her. All the debris hitting so hard put about 40 chips in the windshield and chips all over the front end of the car including the headlights, grille and emblem.

So I'm taking her back to the body shop next monday for the car to be repainted and a new windshield.

I think I'm still in shock and probably wont cry over it until I have to hand the keys over to the shop.

So sorry to hear it. If they're just chips it's not so bad. I'm glad you were able to keep control of the car and that it wasn't worse!

My car was originally supposed to be delivered to the dealership today and I was so afraid it might have been caught outside in that storm. Luckily for me it was late.

Sorry to hear that, always seems to happen when you buy a new vehicle, some kind of freak accident or something you have never even thought of happens. Good luck getting it fixed.

Sorry to hear about the chips but glad y'all came through ok. Really don't think Onstar can help out in that type of situation. I always look for shopping malls if close by with multi level garage parking.

So is insurance taking care of that, or do you have to pay for that?

I know we all love our Camaros, but at the end of the day, it's still just a car. Glad to hear no one was hurt. I could only imagine how scary that was.

:( so sorry for you, but glad you are ok...BTW, i started a Ladies Camaro5 Group...you should join!!!...we ladies need to "stick together" in this "male dominated car world"...:sm0:

Noooooo :(

Sorry but at least the car protected you.

Why oh why can't GM make an anti debris shield!!

I feel for you,, just awful.

On a side happy note I just got a call telling me my build date is now june22 when I ordered I was told I wouldn't get the car until the middle or end of August.

PS plz get a quote for a a total re-paint of the car in a diff colour for me hehe.

That's what I'm saying, we need force fields for the Camaro! Both for driving and parking!

Sorry!
It's amazing how much more I use the weather channel app on my iPhone now.
Try it if you have an iPhone. You can get radar too.
I know that doesn't help you now but maybe in the future.
Good luck!

Yeah their was a tornado around 2 miles from where i was at in irving. Was some intense winds. Defeinatly not the day to drive your new Camaro.

Thrillz 06-12-2009 07:05 PM

Man glad you are ok. With the right people they can make it look like new but inspect the car 100% before taking it back. Go over it with a fine tooth comb im serious about that. Knowbody cares more about your car then you. Ive seen amazing repairs and ive seen real butcher jobs it just depends on the people who repair it.

So sorry to hear that! That storm line was really nasty once it got over this way, too. We were under a tornado warning, so I hauled butt up to the datacenter and hunkered down inside while the storms passed :). You know you live in Texas when they're built to withstand a F3 tornado.. :D
