Looks like no louvers for my Scarlet...Am i really going to have to fabricate them from scratch?
Whos in north jersey or upstate new york (NYC area too) that has the MRT louvers? I need to measure em an all so I can start making a set! |
So, I called MRT directly and not the crummy third party guys and I just realized I kept calling during their lunch hour lol
I ordered them and should be here in about a week! Im beyond excited and cant wait to get them on my car. My Scarlet may not be the fastest (or who knows, maybe Ill go supercharger or twin turbo or go full blown nuts and put a 572 in after the warranty goes of course) but she will be one sharp looking fifth gen! Ill post pics once I get them on and after my third windshield gets installed...I hate rocks flying towards my windshield! |
Do you have a contact number to reach them ? Id like a set too.

Their number is under company details not contact. They seemed polite, just give them time for their lunch. I didnt realize about the time zone difference. Now I just gotta wait and get my precious louvers! |
Anyone have louvers on a white car? what do they look like? Im worried that they might clash a bit...and holly molly. I had to print screen because the car I just test drove today and might get is showing up as the add LOL

Im sticking with 5th gens... sorry to get your hopes up. Its been a roller coaster for me too deciding which I like best. And I think Im sticking with the LS too, just because I might need some extra cash to buy back my first Camaro, an 83 Z28...and I have to ship it all the way from eastern Europe..gasp

I got the louvers from MRT, but...they werent the best fit. I had to bend them quite a bit to fit without potentially tearing off the lower sticky pads. Well see how they hold up
https://scontent-lga1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...c8&oe=55FE42EC You cant see it well in pics, which is ok. Im hoping in time they will "bend" themselves to fit better. More pics here http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...00#post8470900 http://www.pantherbb.com/attachment.php?aid=1132 |
An update...one of the tabs just broke. The louvers dont really fit right, and I will have to "break" the other side just so I can open my trunk.
I have to get touch up paint too because of the scratches from the rubbing. I get it that these guys deal with Mustangs (hence MRT right?) but man, I was bummed out. |

I havent been on a lot...Medical issues and the VA and a few rear end accidents...
I just never updated on what happened to the louvers. So I did get them and after the pains of adjusting them, they ended up fitting fine. The tab is still broken off but I just ripped the other side lol (ie cut it off so its smooth at least) So they have been on for over a year now and the verdict: Pure Awesome. They dont rattle. They open up if you need to clean them but you dont have to even do that often. Somehow the air and sprays of a car wash (even the brushed one that I did once and only once) blow and force air downward. So no streaks. Winter wasnt an issue. Snow or Ice didnt warp anything. I was worried because snow did get under the louvers. (I did have to say goodbye to a rear view window until it melted enough to blow away). I wouldnt recommend opening them when theres packed snow involved. They dont fade, or rust (the hardware since the louvers are aluminum) And the car is cooler in the sun. I didnt care about that. I just wanted the 80s Z28 look since mine had them. The bad news is that I was rear ended last week and the car got hit hard. I still dont know how bad it is under the crumpled sheet metal, but the louvers held on. I do hope that Scarlet survives this because I dont want another car and I dont want to hunt down louvers again. (Although I saw MRT is seeing if theres an interest in the same style for the C7 Vette) Al |
Ordered my MRT louvers. I think the pics on this thread look great. That green Camaro kicks ass. I do realize those of us who like the louvers are in the extreme minority! Alot if hate out there. Oh well, make your car like YOU like.
