Engine Ice Coolant for blower

Just did a drain, flush, and fill with Engine Ice coolant. Going out in a few to test it. If I didn't have HP Tuners and the ability to turn on the pump it would have been a huge pain in the booty.

In for the data....

Maybe 1F to 2F less while cruising. 109F outside and it was running 120F to 122F IAT2. When the sun goes down I will go do some 1st-4th pulls.

How are you turning on the coolant pump via HP Tuners?
Thanks.

In the VCM scanner. Under displays and then VCM controls. Then click the boost tab. After that once you connect you can click "on" for the intercooler pump.

Key on, engine off...

Or you can set the pump to come on in the calibration as soon as the key is turned on, still with the engine off...

Sweet! I was just looking for this, an hour ago.

Got some good data this morning.

78F outside. 90F-92F cruising at 80mph. 100F cruising at 100mph in 5th. 104F-110F cruising at 110-120mph in 5th.

Slowed down and let it get to 92F IAT2. Did a pull to the top of 3rd and 4th. 120F IAT2 at the top of 4th. Did it again a couple miles later and saw 122F IAT2. I need to do some pulls when it's 100F outside.

More data.

91F outside. Cruising at 90mph in 5th 106F IAT2. Slow down to 70mph and do a 3-4 pull to the top of 4th.

Run #1 126F IAT2

Slowed down and let it cool down to 108F. The following pulls were done one after the other as soon as it hit 108F IAT2.

Run #2 127F IAT2

Run #3 127F IAT2

Run #4 127 IAT2

Run #5 131F IAT2. Finally saw hot heat soak with the fifth run.

How often does the intercooler pump come on and whats the duration of run time. I've noticed that once I started monitoring my IAT's, my temps on the IAT2 has been in the 128-154 range and that its steady until I see it rapidly drop from time to time while cruising. It's usually pretty humid and temps outside are in the 88-95 range.

What would be a normal IAT2 temp range of a stock LSA with ambient air temp of 93F?

I would be very interested in using this for my car.

jon6.0 08-30-2014 04:08 PM

Something sounds weird then. My IAT2 is 12-15F above ambient while cruising. I was seeing up to 145F with the stock blower coolant in 105F ambient temps. I would have your blower coolant level checked. It sounds like it might not be full or the pump isn't working right.

What were the comparable numbers before the coolant change?
