Amplifiers provide the electrical pressure in a circuit; ohms measure the resistance, or load, against that pressure; and watts measure how much power is released as work. So, using one of those math formulas, an amplifier that provides 100 watts of power through a 4-ohm speaker, will produce 200 watts through a 2-ohm speaker, because it's easier to push that reduced load.

I think that's the reason, gotta love google!
If you don't change out the rear speakers you can adjust the fade on the radio or if you changed out the amp you can adjust the gain. Changing the amp out is the BIGGEST improvement you can do with the BA system.

I've already added the JL XD700/5 amp so I do have the gain controls. I will adjust on those too. I think my head is spinning now from that electrical lesson - lol:eyebulge:. It's great to have help so readily available. Thank you again!

Thank you for the write up. It was a big help. I did my fronts and installed the JL C2-650 components set this weekend.

They sound fantastic. Next week I think I may tackle the rears. I have the JL C2-690 6x9s for the rears.

Again... Very valuable writeup. It should be a sticky!

Old post but followed it today while doing my 2ls. Thanks for the post

Installed Alpine SPS-610C with Merta adapters. Tweeters needed a little hot glue but fit right in the factory pods

The reason stock speakers are louder is because their sensitivity is very, very high, so in general they will get louder at any given volume level. It'd be difficult to find speakers aftermarket that have their efficiency.

Also thanks for the write up. Please do us all a favor OP and don't remove the pics from wherever they are stored!! I hate it when that happens!!
