I believe the guy who posted the pics of the silver camaro on the set for the TV show posted some updates of the front and showed both said SS, but its been a while and its raining threads!

STOP THE WHINNING!!! We all need to remember it's better to have a well developed sexy Camaro and wait on further info to come than to be like it's been since 2002. No Camaro...

I've waited this long and I can wait a few more months on the Z28 release. I might have to lease a SS m6 with performance mods thru gm until release date.

Clyde

the first 2 years it was option code, 69 it got badged.

Weren’t the scallops on the side, the “SS” stripe option?

The original SS stripe in '67 was about a 4" wide stripe around the front end between the hood and the grille.

I'm with you on that one. When looking at the hi-res pics on one of the other sites (autoblog??) I just kept sayin to myself --- "Dayum! That is one SEXY beetch!!!!!"

At least now and after tomorrow we will have enough info to keep us guessing and bickering until February.

We need Scott (and the mods) to step in and tell us all to "behave" for now. :mad0260: :yikes:

I've only seen "hints" of it in some of the interior pics. not listed (yet) on official specs, afaik.

That's all I could find, but the disclaimer on the bottom worries me.

Most people have seen it, in use, in the "ignition" video on the Camaro website

Thats where I saw it also, but if I remember correctly it had a disclaimer.

This is awesome! I fully expected that the Z28 announcement will be a little later in teh first year of production. After all, they have to the the production line get under control, and wait for Ford and Dodge to come back with their best shot before they blow their doors off again.

The SS with 422 may be fine for me and my bank account. Love the HUD and the LED lighting!

I want one now!!!!

Try turning up the brightness on your monitor a little bit... it will help make the colors look a little better.

In all seriousness think about the last time you saw a silver vette driving down the road. Now the silver Camaro is basically the same color. Now look at how dark it looks on your monitor and realize that how much darker your computer is making the colors seem. Some of these are pretty bright colors (think victory red) but depending on your computer they can look fairly dark. (That is actually a really common problem and the reason graphic designers use monitors that cost sometimes into the thousands of dollars to ensure that the colors they see on their screen are actually what will come out in print).

I just had a thought I wonder if their will be an option for RS/SS like they had in the 60's.

nUcLeArEnVoY 07-21-2008 06:51 PM

In 1969 (which is where I can confidently say we're basing our nostalgic speculation for the 5th gen), the SS, in general (not an RS/SS like commonly misinterpreted), originally came with code D90, the hockey stripes although you could order somewhat of a twist on the original "bumblebee" nose stripe called option DX1 seen here on this blue base car (at least I think it's base considering the bowtie badge):
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/3652/1969/69b11.jpg

The rally stripes everyone loves and associates with a Camaro were actually exclusive to the Z/28 as we've confirmed in this thread.

I actually prefer the hockey stripes myself and hope the aftermarket produces them or that they're a factory option.

ihc95 07-21-2008 06:51 PM

So let me get this strait. If you get the SS w/ TAP shift auto transmission, you lose 22hp?!?!?! Thats just pure :bs: !!!!! There is no other car where you lose that much power by chosing the auto! Also, 23mpg? Hmmmm, I was expecting more along the lines of 26-28mpg. Also, it takes Premium fuel:cry: Everythig else is :w00t:
