looks like a green SS with z28 badges. Something about this doesn't seem right, it's supposed to be on the new alpha platform but all the pics and renderings seem to show a current zeta like camaro. isn't the z28 supposed to be on the Alpha platform and shouldn't it look a tad smaller? is there a chance this is an elaborate smoke screen to dupe Ford into showing there hand before Chevy blows them out of the water or am I dreaming some major crap up? It is supposed to go on the Alpha platform right?

Next years Z/28 will be built on the the current Zeta platform with a modified version of the LSA engine. Either 2014 or 2015, Chevy will release the Alpha chassis Camaro with most likely a derivative of the smaller sized direct injection engine. Ford might force Chevy to bring the Alpha chassis sooner if sales start to slip away from the Camaro.

I'm not familar enough with the Alpha platform to know how much smaller it will or won't be, the biggest advantage in my opinion is the fact that it should weigh less than the Zeta version. And Old Jedi is correct, the coming Z/28 will be on the current Zeta platform/body with minor changes, an Alpha version is not likely for a few more years.

Wish my hood looked like that.

thanks for clarifying this, had only heard that the Z28 would be built on the Alpha and nothing about the zeta one. that clears things up for me, thanks

I'm liking that rendering more than many of the others out there. Motor Trend had another one I liked, too.

I gotta' pick this up when it hits the stand! Thanks for posting :D

so thinking about this - and looking at the article/image...

anyone else notice the Z28/Supercharged logo there - thats pretty close to the "Z" i could swear i saw under the tape.

I bet thats pretty close to the actual logo treatment ...

Z28 Camaro with the word "supercharged" under the 28. (visualize it...)

just a thought.

Yeah thats pretty awesome... thanks for posting. Cant wait to see production models

Punk_rider 08-17-2010 05:09 AM

IS this rendering based on something they've seen of just their view of how it should be?

usmcjlp 08-17-2010 07:15 AM

That hood is ugly. Looks just like an SLP or Sinister hood. It doesn't flow with the lines of the vehicle. If that's all their doing as far as exterior mods, they can keep it. The GT500 is a much more aggressive look.

Leolee 08-17-2010 08:05 AM

not agressive enough... all the other renderings were ok but this one is eh.
