No more front plate!
Looks like Texas has repealed the front plate requirement. Effective September.
http://www.legis.state.tx.us/Search/...ighlightType=1 I can't wait to take mine off! |
Finally! September can't come fast enough
|
Haven't had one on in 5 years of driving my 5th gen
|
I went for a few years without as well but got a "warning" a few weeks ago and went ahead and put it on.
I'll take it off again in Sept, that's for sure. |
I wonder if this will cause any issues with plates that are older.
SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act regarding the issuance of license plates by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles applies only to the issuance of license plates by the department for a registration period beginning on or after the effective date of this Act. SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
I don't think so. The "issuance" of plates and the "display" of plates are two different things.
It would be nice if they could write this stuff in English, though. |
I've been pulled over twice for no front plate in 2 yrs. Got off with warnings no way ill put it on.
|
finally !!!!
|
Dammit, I just got mine riveted on a few weeks ago!
That's OK, my custom plates were expensive. It would be silly to only wear one. |

As far as I can find on the Texas House Bill 557 is still in committee and has NOT been passed yet. I could be wrong but that is latest listing for the bill on the Txas legislature web site
|
HB 657 is still pending in committee. It's not a law yet, and may never be.
