2014 Chevrolet Camaro: Design Details Explained [Video]
Chevrolet introduced the 2014 Camaro at the New York Auto Show. It is more beautiful than ever, but Program Engineering Manager Mark Dickens says, "It's not just eye candy. It actually performs." Check out the video to discover why Dickens says the styling enhancements were made with performance in mind. |
Nice

I'll have to check it out later.

nice video thanks
Gonna watch the vid in just a sec, thanks for posting
even though I already have my Camaro, for now anyway, if Anyone has ANYTHING like this to post I'll want to see it and appreciate it. Development will continue for the 5th gen as they work on the 6th gen, so I want to see both |
Liking the steady flow of new info.
Cool, thanks!!
Im still betting that 2014 SS will be performaning better than the older ones
Good. i think everyone needs to watch this:thanks:
so why the chrome piece around the front?? I have been struggling to allow the new look to grow on me but. . . :noidea:
More Aggressive Look???
I don't think it is more aggressive. Don't get me wrong. It's way more aggressive then any Mustang.
As I was looking a the 2014 ZL1 first the front picture... good nothing changed... keep panning around with the pictures... the side looks good... and then I saw the back and was like... something is not right here...??? it just looks off. People like chrome... I don't. I didn't even like it on the rear lights like in the 2009-2013 models. That just me. Everyone has there preference. Will see how many 2014 models they will sell. That will say a lot about what people think. I believe they will sell a lot Z/28 because it's a Z/28. I believe they would of sold more if they came out with it sooner though. I also think the value of all you current 2009-2013 Camaro owners out there has gone up. History has a way of repeating itself. |
PLEASE More Aggressive Look ...HAHAHAHAHA what the hell you looking at? , my 2010 is WAY more aggressive looking , He did say it with a straight face even, Line up the 2010-13 , to the 2014 and try to tell me the new car has a more aggressive look . I still think the 2014 is a great car , just dont try to bs me .

He perhaps should have said more intense or purposeful, as it looks like a car front-end designed for function rather than the cartoon-y but admittedly aggressive front of the current car. I'm not slamming the current car, but I think this sophistication via evolution is the way forward, allowing the 6th gen car to be evolutionary rather than revolutionary. |

All of this complaining over the last few weeks has turned into whining. If you don't like it then don't buy it. End of story.
I, for one, was starting to get tired of the old body style because it made the car look chunky; which is even more true since I laid eyes on the beauty of the refresh. |
The 2014 and 2013 just appeal to different tastes. Personally I like my 2013 better, doesn't mean the 2014 is a bad car its just different. It's still a Camaro.
I like the 2014. I may not love it more than my 2010SS, but I do like it. It'll be interesting when they start winding up in the forum how the haters are going to react?
The new camaro looked REALLY good in that video, much better than in the pictures I've seen/
Still don't change my mind.
I for one am glad I didn't wait.
I prefer the current model, happy I bought a 13. |
Cant wait to get my 2014 1LE
I like 2014 and 2013 both are just fine in my books. I'll be getting a 2013 because I need it before the end of September for company write off.

I actually like the new front, IMO it's more aggressive looking. Old style looks "tougher" though. If that makes sense. |
I like the 2014 I think they should release the Z28 sooner. I want to order my Z28 as soon as they say we can place our orders.
I'm curious to know how long Mark Dickens has been with the Camaro design team. The design may have a purpose but in no way is it more aggressive.
agree!!!
so they put an aluminum trucklid on it, but how much weight are they really saving on car that was 3,880 pounds?

No, 100 pounds on the Z/28 from many things, not just the trunklid. but how much weight savings on an SS just by changing the trunklid, idk
Well I agree that it's not eye candy for sure.

does the 2014 look more aggressive than the 2012???
i'm guessing he was talking about the front end.
and no it doesn't really either. |
I would have loved to see how the Z28 would have looked with the 2013 styling.
So is a trans cooler standard now for the 2014 SS or was he mistaken? It wasn't standard for 2013 and I haven't heard anybody else say that.
I love the styling of the 2014 model and it does look a little more aggressive I like the lights of the 10-13 models but it always felt like something was missing I love these new taillights on the 14 and plan on getting one soon as I can
I like the new front end styling. But the 2014 ZL1 will have the same front end as the 2012/13 models. The new rear styling looks poorly proportioned. I don't like the bumper/valence treatment. And the tail lights look like they were pulled off a shelf at Home Depot. Maybe it will grow on me but def not digging it. Showed it to a friend of mine who is not a car guy and his immediate response was: "that looks like a Toyota". Not good...
The front is similar to the Jetta hybrid 2013, the rear came from a prelude, imagine this camaro with 4 doors. Maybe then it will look right. Aggressive looking ???

First time to comment.
I have been on Camaro5 since the beginning, and owned a 2010 2ss, but got tired of the payment! I wish I still had one, and probably will get another one, but it will not be a 2014. I personally do not like the look of the new 2014's as well. It is still cool and a Camaro but I think GM went the wrong direction. It is starting to look too generic, like other cars. It doesn't look destinctive as the 2010-2013. The front end is what bothers me the most. The RS looks wall eyed. Like a pug. If they would center the halo's it would look better. The lower grill is bigger, but then is covered partially, and the parking light openings should be on the same level as the grill. The tail lights are ok and they are trying to be like the 69's but they are too flat and boring. The lisence plate opening is too big, out of proportion. Certain angles the front upper grill/headlights bucket area looks similar to the 1982-1992 front headlight bucket area. The 2012-13 toyota camary has a similar front view. The 2014 Camaro just doesn't grab you like the 2010-2013. The problem with doing a retro theme is where do you go from there. I'm sure thats why GM was hesitant to do it when Mustang did it in 2005. I'm also thinking GM wanted to slim down the looks of the Camaro because it has gotten criticism about being bulky looking. I personally think it (2010-2013) looks muscular and tough. I think the new design has stretched everything horizontally trying to give it a slimmer look. They should slim down the belt line, lower the side window area. From the A pillar to the B pillar should angle down a bit more. Plus this would help with visability also. All that said the 2014 Camaro is still cool looking but just a slight mis-step. Hopefully, and I'm sure it will, the C6 Camaro will look awesome! |
