Cant wait Granatelli Racing Parts
:cool:Well I finally made a decision and bought Granatelli's Racing's Long tube headers with high flow cats today. After searching and waiting for the factory shortys to go with my GMPP performance exhaust, I finally found out they weren't gonna get produced because the couldn't pass emissions. Gonna be better off anyway. I also got the ProSeries coil packs (85,000 volts) and Solid stainless steel high performance coil near plug wires ( 0 ohm resistance) and custom carbon fiber look CAI. Will let everyone know how it turns out. Got about 15 hp from exhaust, should get about another 20 to 40 with CAi, headers and coils and wires. Cant wait for the parts to arrive.:w00t:

How did you decide on Granatelli's and how much did they cost?
|
Well after talking with them, they gained my respect with their knowledge of these engines, the performance numbers are great and everything is matched and it doesn't require a tune. Also with the long tunes and cats that bolt on shouldn't void my warranty. Last the respect that I have for the Granatelli's and their long tradition in racing performance. Check out there website. http://www.granatellimotorsports.com/racing.php

What benefits would a otherwise stock LS3 engine gain from bigger coils and wires? I could understand if you were FI'd, but I don't see the benefit on a stock or near stock Camaro. |

Anyone of the higher flowing CAI with a hi flow exh or muffler delete kit as a combo should be able to put down a solid 25 to 28hp gain. Admittedly we dyno'd a volant the other day with a SLP loudmouth and the combo only did 14. not sure why, i was only asked to do a before and after not to diagnose the problem - or should I say lack of power gain. Now on to the coils and wires - I agree the stock coils are super right out of the box but the GMS coils are still 20% better in output. We can exhaust 10 more pages on how coils work - blah blah blah and how if you don't need the extra jam why have it - but that is not always the case - the stock coils heat soak super fast so for repeated dyno blasts or repeated blasts down the track - The GMS coils just keep on truck'n. Here is a video that quickly explains why and what makes our wires the best and why they really work. This is fact not fiction. No trick video work just a real back to back test on a Vette. http://www.gmsvideos.com/video/1345 It is 6 minute video and paints a clear picture but if you don't want to watch it - here is the end result Stock wires have over 800 ohms of resistance - that aint good The Granatelli wires have 0 to .01 ohms of resistance - so that means you get 100% of the coils energy to your plug - like running a jumper cable from point A to point B. In this video we dyno'd a C6 Z06 back to back in under 12 minutes time and just added GMS 0 ohm wires (no other changes) the gain was 10hp and 17ft/lbs Torque increases were across the board and the power gains began at 3400 to redline. Hope that answers the question. Mid America Corvette called BS on our dyno test and said no way - they purchase a set and did their own testing - they reports 8hp and 13ft/lbs on a standard C6 LS2 car. Hot Rod said the samething. After installing a camshaft and heads on to a LT1 project they were work on in concert with Crane Cams - they reported only 18hp and 14ft/lbs - They said if heads and a cam were only goood for 18hp gain the wires would do nothing - again they tested it and in the case of the LT1 it picked up 15hp and 17 ft/lbs http://www.gmsvideos.com/video/2689 |
