PEOPLE WITH AFTER MARKET RIMS!!!

How does having after market rims affect the warranty?

velociSSimo 07-22-2011 04:52 AM

As long as they are the same size it shouldn't effect the warranty.

What? Really? Did this happen? If so find a new dealership for servicing...unless you did something really aweful with the rims? Like putting 30's on the car or something :sm0:

I have put aftermarket wheels on EVERY GM vehicle I have bought in the last 30 years and had ZERO issues with any warranty claims. I have only had one and it was taken care of.

+1 Same here. I don't know if the op is having an issue with his dealership or a question about it. I've never heard of it. Sounds to me like individual at the dealer is trying to be a dick.

On the same token my dealer told me when I put a magnusson on my car to buy a seperate ECM that way if warranty arises I can take all the bolt on stuff off and swap the ECM's and they never know it was there.

Wheels do not affect vehicle warranty. In fact, numerous dealership will sell you wheels when you buy a vehicle. The Magnusson-Moss act prevents a vehicle manufacturer from voiding a warranty based on aftermarket parts, they can only refuse warranty on specific vehicle systems that are directly related to the added parts, and can prove the parts negatively affect those systems.

It shouldnt avoid warrant to the vehicle. If the wheel gets a nail or is damaged by road hazzard then the warranty for the tire should be through whoever you purchased your aftermarket wheels and tires from (i.e. Discount Tire).
