Anyone plan on replacing the mufflers?

I've been giving a lot of thought to the sound of the V6 exhaust and, quite honestly, it's not the right sound for me.

I had Flowmaster Hushpower (HP-2) mufflers on my old '56 Chevy and loved the sound of it. I'm considering going with them again on my 1LT. At $140 each, they aren't cheap but they'll tuck up under the car a lot better than the stock ones.

Anyone else planning on exhaust system changes?

The stock V6 exhaust sounds pretty good for a V6, but that flowmaster on the Avenger definitely makes it sound more like a V8. For $280 it may be worth it.

The stock system w/ the x-pipe is going to produce a very odd effect w/ a chambered muffler like the flowmaster. I'd personally go the magnaflow route... got to unbolt mine and figure out which ones to order.

I don't like the way the factory mufflers are vissable from the back and I've been considering making a change, but i'm not sure what brand would produce a sound I will like. I love the sound of my 94 Z28, so the v6 sound will take some getting used to, needs to be a little deeper.

The HP-2 mufflers are different than the typical Flowmaster design. The HP-2 is a straight through design, rather than a chambered design.

When I get my 2LT RS I am going to do exhaust. I hope by then a lot of V6ers have videos of how theirs sounds so I will have real examples to choose from instead of blindly choosing.

Heard a 2lt this week. Changing Mufflers - YES!

At idle, the 6 sounds very raspy and tinny. Under load, it's a different story.

It's also damn near silent too unless you really get on it. I had 50 v6 Camaros drive by within 10 feet of me and barely heard only a handful of them.

I've got some youtube clips from my phone of the car at idle, and up underneath the chassis...

Sorry about the dog barking ;)

The exhaust definitely needs an upgrade. I would like to hear it @ around 6000 rpm =)

I like the V6 sound, besides I need to not be so loud when I go into "Stealth" mode. ;)

I'm looking into magnaflow replacement mufflers at the moment... we'll see.

Electric solenoid activated cut outs FTW!
