What does "CAL" mean ?
I started up my car today, and on the panel where it normal would have the compass, it says "CAL". Does anyone know what that means?

is there any reason why this pops up?

Cal-U of California Berkeley
Did it say "Go Bears" under the word Cal? If so, I want your car.
If it ever says Stanford or USC, set your car on fiire and roll it down a hill. |

It should be the recalibration of your compass.....at least from what I can tell

It is the recalibration for the compass. If the car has lost connection for being in a garage, under a roof or something it usually pops up. Happens all the time when put cars on the dyno!

When I park under the canopy at work and don't move it all day, when I leave it will say CAL for a minute then correct itself.

In the owners manual it tells you that sometimes this will pop up in the DIC (drivers info center) when the satellite signal is lost for the GPS locator in your car, yo just have to move the car to another area and the signal will be picked up again..

I almost freaked out today. I got the damn message also. I was like "oh hell no" with 4k miles on it.

Interesting, I've stored mine 2 winters (NY winters are 5 months), and other times it may sit in the garage for up to 2 weeks without being started, and I have never seen this.
