Guess I can post my 70 Camaro!
Hey guys,
Joined here after meeting some the folks at Coffee and Cars. For the last 3-4 years I've been trying to build a 70 Camaro as a track car, and I've gotten pretty far on it. http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...18880475_n.jpg By far I mean I stripped it down and had a cage, and drivetrain that I need to mount. Also my shop is messy as hell in that picture, we were cleaning, don't judge me... Got an opportunity to work at a pretty cool shop, some of you may have heard of it, so closed down my business and moved down to Houston to work at Hennessey. Ever since I was little I've wanted a 70 Camaro like Mr. Guts in Gumball Rally, so while looking for a couple of spare spoilers for a race car, I stumbled upon and bought Ronald Mc Donald's personal project. It was a 70, no noteworthy rust, super straight, ran, drove, super slow, but it was a 70, split bumper Camaro, and dangit, it looks cool. http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...84900759_n.jpg http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...75637416_n.jpg After eating a lot of McDoubles and McRibs, kinda got tired of ambitiously waiting on a weekend to paint it myself, so I dropped it at the local paint shop. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...66150123_n.jpg http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...35186232_n.jpg Turned out okay. Finally got my wheels on it too. Took this before taking John Hennessey drifting in it. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...36132107_n.jpg. I've got a 383 LS1 and a blower on an engine stand, plan to swap that in it with a T-56 that I have from my old race car, deciding on 12 bolt or 9'', and my buddies at Oversteer Garage are going to help me get the suspension all sorted. We're probably going to widen the track an inch or two and put some small flares on it, and lower it a lot, and I'll have a pretty awesome car I can daily if I want to, and take to Texas World Speedway on the weekends or go drifting with. The Jackstand Champ is probably going to get an iron block with some LS3 top end parts, and try to build it to be American Iron legal, and use it for some fun wheel to wheel, drifting, and autocross. Anyways, those are my moneypits. Pretty thankful to have them, and as long as I don't have a wife or a girlfriend I'll keep chipping away at them, after that I'll probably be screwed. Well, that's my little starter post for my Camaro thread, and my life story. I also like pizza. |

Well...That thing is awesome.
No lie, I just spent 20 minutes on Hemmings looking at 70/71's because of you. |
Haha, sorry ATX211. And thanks guys.
2010RSSS, it's a good lifestyle isn't it?! I got some crappy videos here: http://www.youtube.com/mikespeed95 Also if you wanna follow along my Camaro drifting stuff, click that link on the bottom of my sig. If you really want to check out some rad drifting, you NEED to go to Holley's LS Fest this year in Bowling Green Kentucky in September. It's truly a phenomenal, and fun event. The weather and that part of the country is absolutely beautiful, and there is a lot of fun to be had. And I'll be up there doing some drifting. |

We got bored at TX2k and took some pictures with the Foose wheels off my old racecar on. If anyone is in Houston, my friend Ryan takes some awesome pics, and he is a huge gearhead and loves shooting cars. Drop him a line on his Facebook page. He just likes shooting stuff. Next step is waiting on my friends at Oversteer Garage to get their CP car dialed in, then we're going to start playing with my setup over there. I've also still got my 700 horsepower engine stand hanging out at my shop, hopefully I'll have that in mid-late April. Coming along. |
Split Bumper 2nd gen... one of my favorites! AWESOME car.
