PORTED THROTTLEBODY QUESTION

Shopping around,

JDP offers a "New" and "Used" PTB there the only site out there with this option. The "NEW" PTB also comes with a $$$ premimum charge.

My question is when I order from other Vendors that do not offer "NEW vs USED" are they really NEW PTB or Refurbished Cores other customers returned.

Is there a benefit of having a New vs Used

Most likely this. No benefit, all they do is machine the hole bigger on the returned cores.

Generally they are going to be refurbished cores.
VMAX uses CNC to machine out their TB's, which yields incredibly consistent results.

Sorry for being a DUNCE but Maybe Im missing something, So who is actually refurbishing the Core units JDP or VMAX.

Exzample: I order a NEW unit JDP ships becuase there a VMAX Vendor

I order a Used unit its a core sent back to JDP

Who actually refurbishes the cores JDP or VMAX?

What kind of performance gain do you get from these? Maybe 5hp? Quicker throttle response?

VMAX Motorsports CNC ported throttle bodies offer increased throttle response as well as HP/TQ gains through out the power band. We've seen 4-6 RWHP and Peak #'s up to 12 with this simple and inexpensive mod; for the money they can't be beat! These TB's don't require any tuning and the install is 15-20 minutes taking your time.

I have one. Throttle response is obviously improved. Cheapest 6-10 rwhp you'll buy. Must have! Got mine from JDP. New unit.

Out of curiosity, how much are these units?

Typically around $150, but usually there is also a $150 core charge that is refunded once you return your stock TB.

I know people on this thread are claiming 4-6 and up to 12 RWHP.
to them I say SHOW ME THE DYNO SHEET, otherwise you are being a silly person and speaking nonsense.
The ported TB will greatly improve throttle response, but I have yet to see any RWHP gain from this mod alone

Absolutely! VMax claims 12-16 RWHP gain without a tune - more with. Got mine through Apex Motorsports. Core charge deposit posted to my account 5 days after I sent the stock TB back. Super service. Super product. Well worth the $150.

That is kind of where I was going after the "must have" comments. I know I am old school (because I am old), but I never saw anything that was externally bolted on to an engine that gave a worthwhile HP increase except nitrous, superchargers and turbos. Thanks for the feedback.

I just installed a VMAX over the weekend from Tampa Tuning. Its $150 + $200 core charge, $200 is returned when you send your TB to them so it actually only costs you $150 bucks. The one I bought looked new, no issues at all. I painted it and installed the next day in just a few mins. Noticeable throttle response and definately a good mod.
