What kind of oil do you use?

Time for an oil change. I don't use synthetic, typically I go to Goodyear here in my town and have always had a good experience. What do you guys use and do you do it yourself?

SoCal Swagger 04-30-2013 09:51 AM

mobile one full synthetic.....

nyrfan 04-30-2013 09:53 AM

Do it myself with Mobil 1. I will be changing to Pennzoil Platinum in the future as it's getting better results on lab test and helps to quite the lifter tick on the SS.

MrWray 04-30-2013 10:37 AM

i only use Mobil 1 5w-30 Extended Performance, and i also use purolator oil filters

bw26ss 04-30-2013 10:45 AM

the kind you buy at the store

gajagfan 04-30-2013 10:59 AM

What comes stock in the 6.2L engine?

WildOne 04-30-2013 11:00 AM

Only use Mobil One in all 4 of my cars.

Mobile 1 synthetic 5w-30

That's what I use. As long as you haven't added an aftermarket cam with springs and stuff you should be okay. Otherwise I would consider Valvoline VR1 (non-synthetic).

blazzin1 04-30-2013 11:04 AM

Joe Gibbs LS30.

Deftones 04-30-2013 11:11 AM

Amsoil.

Team STILLEN 04-30-2013 11:16 AM

We use Mobil 1 on all of our cars!

willhe64 04-30-2013 11:20 AM

Penzoil platinum after doing much web research.

Jim968 04-30-2013 11:25 AM

Mobil 1. Do it myself.

plus1zero 04-30-2013 11:27 AM

I picked up some Mobil 1 fuel economy, it was less buying synthetic than it was getting them to do it by just doing it myself.

I was under the impression synthetic was really expensive

PalmerGA 04-30-2013 11:35 AM

Castrol GTX SynBlend. Do it myself.

JDP Sales 04-30-2013 11:38 AM

We use Mobile 1 as well.

Best regards,

You don't consider $6+ per quart expensive, times 8 quarts per oil/filter change?

Mobil 1, changed the oil/filter in her yesterday :)

Cruuzin LV 04-30-2013 12:43 PM

I just had mine changed last week to Penz Platnium. The engine idles very smooth with it and seems to perform well.

Childs Play 04-30-2013 12:45 PM

Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30

376LS3 04-30-2013 12:45 PM

Valvoline VR1 SAE30 conventional. Got rid of 85% of my lifter tick.

vroomapunk 04-30-2013 12:46 PM

Mobil 1 full synthetic, look at the oil filler cap on Ferrari, Mercedes, Audi, etc etc, you'll find Mobil 1 written on the cap.

My Caroline 04-30-2013 12:46 PM

Mobile 1 full synthetic 5W-30 DEXOS with a Wix filter.
You should be using full synthetic.

BigPopa71 04-30-2013 12:48 PM

Mobil 1 Full Synthetic!

=Stephens= 04-30-2013 12:52 PM

We are supposed to change it? I just keep adding more, usually the cheapest oil I can find at walmart. LOL, JK. MOBIL 1 full synthetic with K&N filter.

Yendor 04-30-2013 01:18 PM

I just picked up oil for my first 1500 mile change, it was Pennzoil Platinum.

AlexM 04-30-2013 02:02 PM

Amsoil synthetic, on all my cars for more than 8 years now.

RoadMonkey 04-30-2013 02:08 PM

Mobil 1 5w30 Full Synthetic in all the cars... Usually DIY, but sometimes I let the dealership do it, since I worked there. I use Amsoil in the motorcycles.

Check the new ones. I believe Ferrari uses Pennzoil Platinum in their newer models.

Edit: Pennzoil Ultra is recommended by Ferrari.

With mine being a 2LT will I be able to tell much of a difference between the Mobil advanced fuel economy vs the extended performance?

In my personal experience, K&N as well as Fram filters leave particulate in the oil. If I were you I'd switch to a Wix or Napa (made by Wix) filter.

Avenging Orange 05-01-2013 12:18 AM

You can continue to go to your local Goodyear that you trust. I would stick with the synthetic blend that came in the car. I say this because many of the V6's tend to have oil consumption issues. If your car happens to develop this issue and you have to have warranty work, it will be to your benefit to have proof of oil changes.

Scott@Bjorn3D 05-01-2013 04:57 AM

Pennzoil Platinum.

ICTsccaCamaro 05-01-2013 01:02 PM

Mobil 1 oil with a gm filter and i change it on a lift at work
