LS3 VVT?

I am strongly considering Going VVT in my LS3 M6. I'm really liking the power curve and the way the peak hp flatlines if you will instead of almost falling on its face shortly after peak, and allowing me to extend my rpm out to around 7000 so when shifting I will be able to stay higher in my powerband. Just wanted to hear everyone's thought and opinions.

The LS3 does not have VVT.

I am aware of of that but I want VVT. Instead of most of the L99 guys doing away with it, I am wanting it but I want it on my LS3.

Your pistons might interfere since the Ls3's flat top for one.

So flycutting will have to be done regardless of cam size?

litle88 06-30-2013 11:31 PM

Well if your going thru all that trouble then I wouldn't want a baby cam get Rhinos larger cam that won't need much Fly cutting.

Muddflap 06-30-2013 11:34 PM

I'm not really looking to flycut but I will if need be. Just trying to maximize all i can get out of my car without going into the bottom end and staying NA at the same time. I feel like VVT will give me what I'm looking for. Pretty much all i need is some money so I can send it to Rhino79 and let him work is magic.

I have an L99 with 8k mi on it. I'd be willing to sell and may even trade.. Dunno if it'd be any easier than using the ls3..

Intake and exhaust reliefs will need to be added for the cam I run. It can be done though!

Ideally valve reliefs on both sides would allow for the best possible gains. Otherwise the only way we could accomplish this is with a limiter that restricted the camshaft movement a lot.

Got a good quote from the guys at Gwatney Performance. Now I just gotta hurry and get crap fixed around the house so I can start saving for Rhino79 to work his magic. The waiting is going to kill me. In the mean time I'm going to look for another job that pays more daily bonus so I can get the ball rolling a little faster. The Ol Lady might not like the being gone alot more than I already am but all I can say is RACECAR!!!!!!!!!

Hahaha, can't wait and see how it works out for ya! I have to wait 6 or more months to take it to Rhino79 also!

It will probably be about that long for me the way things have been going lately. My dad moved in with us so I'm trying to get the portable building I bought for him to live in payed off and plumbing and elec ran to it along with insulating and cabnets and all that crap. Then last night my AC unit took a shit on. When it rains it pours. If I get this job I'm trying to get ill have all that stuff taken care of within a month.
