Hurst Billet/Plus Shifter & Stock Knob...?

Anyone using this shifter with the stock knob? I like the retro look of the Hurst ball and all - just not for my car. In watching the install video there was mention of being able to reuse the stock knob... Anyway, Anyone got this setup? How does it feel? The Hurst one seems significantly taller which is why I'm asking since the shifter length with impact the feel of how short the throws are.

Sorry if this has been posted before, I searched (half assed, I'll admit) and did a quick scan of the first few pages and didn't see anything.

Hurst Short Throw

With the prices falling drastically on the setups, I wonder if theers something wrong with them. From $400 down to $169 I just ask.
I havent had a Hurst in a car in several years and while they were good I'm a little skeptical of these.
Any Input ?

I have the shifter, I first had it set up with the hurst knob, was not crazy about the feel. You can use it with the stock knob, I currently am. Love the much shorter throws. Would recommend. :happyanim: Nothing wrong with mine feels great too.

Rick where are you seeing it for 169?

Included in the box are two sticks, one for the factory set up, the other for the old school look.

Thanks Paul - I realized that the option is there for both, I was more inquiring about how it felt with the factory knob since it seems much shorter. That being said, you mention there are 2 sticks in the box, does one counter the height difference in that case?

Good to hear that it's feeling great with the factory knob! I'll be ordering the kit very soon although I'm gonna wait til Spring to install.

Thanks for the input so far guys! Much appreciated!

I haven't installed mine yet, but it looks like the factory setup will be a little shorter.

I'm wondering if the prices are going even lower (and Why?)

I have the old school setup done but fixing to switch to factory knob .. heard its a much better feel since the factory knob is heavy.

I am guessing the prices are dropping due to sales falling off, seems like most owners have a short throw of some kind.

did you guys use the dynamat insulation provided with the kit ?

NSCRFN3 02-04-2012 04:24 PM

I have this shifter and I am also using the stock knob. Although I have a '10 and it was not an option I added this shifter and the factory Hurst knob and I love it! Much better than the stock shifter. The height is perfect for me when curzing in either 4th or 6th laying my arm on the console and the shifter. However, even with the dynamat this shifter is a lot noiser than the factory shifter. That is the only downfall I have seen with it.
