Blown LS3 in Sec. Gen

Well I am going to do it. ( For those who care)

Just ordered my TVS2300 supercharged LS3 from Turn Key and all the parts needed to drop that Baby in my 30,000 original mile 1980 Z28 Camaro.

This should be a very intertesting project. One I have thought long and hard about. Over Drive no Overdrive, LS6 Blown, LS9, LS7 ,oh my goodness the Choices.

Well the verdict is in, no Overdrive and a blown LS3. Now if it only fits as well as they say it will. It should be a blast. 500 lbs less car Maybe more if you figure the weight reduction in the engine compartment.

Oh Ya ...The funny part...I am pulling a 6/71 supercharged 350 to put this one in.

You may ask why.... I love fuel injection, intercoolers and drag reduction!

Out with the old in with the new....

The only thing left bothering me is ?

Should I Have gotten the OD trans as well ? Oh well. I guess we will see.

Well...bottom line. Stay tuned for updates. I am told 3 weeks for the motor so I will keep those who are interested informed and will post an occasional picture. The Before pic is in My albums under my screen name for those who care.

Sorry to bore those who don't.....If anybody has had any experience with such a project I am all ears.

Thanks for your Time..... :headbang:

I did an LS7 in mine - Not sure of your build but work planning to get traction for all that power to the ground and stopping :)
- My build http://www.pro-touring.com/showthrea...ro-Crazy-in-AZ

BTW: I was told my engine would be three weeks too - different vendor and defiantly did not happen that fast!

i have an ls in my camaro with a 3 speed and hated it so im putting the overdrive in. i also have 4:10 gears so highway driving sucked
i pulled a 1300 hp procharged small block from my car to put the ls in and its more fun to drive and alot less noise lol

I love the idea. Please keep us updated on the progress. Thanks for sharing.

Edit: just checked your pictures, you my friend have an awsome collection. Keep up the good work.

Well, you were right on the three weeks....still waiting.

I think everybody went to Glamus over Thanksgiving and forgot to build my motor. They were blaming the timing on Magnusun parts not all being there but this is my third Maggie plus maggie upgrades and have never had any delay from them and they are in Cali. Just like turn Key...granted not across the street but not like it should take a month for shipping or anything.

Anyway, I am pretty committed at this point. Motor is out, and sold. Got a big empty hole waiting for my new power plant. Was told should go out this week.Dyno is supposedly down. They can run it with a load but no read outs until its fixed. Might have them just run it to seat everything and wait and put It on the chassis dyno when I get it in here. I guess we will see. Just waiting and can't wait to get that baby in. I opted out of the overdrive for now. I figured I would try it with the setup I am currently running since it was pretty dialed in with my other blower motor.

Might need to change later but I thought I would at least try it before changing. If I go OD I will probably throw a nine inch in at the same time so I don't have to keep buying drive shafts. I have a 3:42 with turbo 350 now so far so good and I have pretty much beat the heck out of it so might as well Finnish them off.

If I can't get some of that power hooked up nothing will probably break....but, that's no fun.

I will start post some pics as soon as the crate arrives....can't wait, Merry Christmas to me !

Stay turned.....

Nothing to show but a big hollow engine compartment right now. If you want to see pics of the car check out my albums. Plenty of pics there. As soon as there is something to take a picture of there will be plenty along with detailed info on how it's going together. When motor arrives there will be pics same day!

So all who want pics give turnkey a call and tell them to send me my motor !

Get forged crank, pistons and solid stainless intake and exhaust valves. Lot's of dead boosted LS3's around lately.

Done all that....Nothing but the good stuff !

I am a blower motor addict and have personally experienced the Wrath of too much boost on several occasions. This will be my 3rd Blown LS3 and so far so good, although I am stepping it up on the boost so Forged Guts is a must !

Although, I have two Blown 2010's one with almost 30,000 miles that has had the blower on it since i brought it home from the dealer and all I have broken is axles and Trans output shaft. All covered on Warranty.( 8lbs Boost 570 rwhp, 652 at crank))

I have also set up Three others with the same combo...one a convertible. Again nothing broken there yet either, except axles and tranny's. Need a good tune, good gas, and fuel system and all is good.

Just got to know when to stop boosting. I am pushing it, but if she goes, its back to TurnKey...or someone else if my motor doesn't come soon!

This is my package only adding TVS2300 instead of Ken Belle only for hood clearance reasons.

Turn Key has many Hi performance supercharged engine packages all solid....just need to get mine !

Still waiting

Hmm - TVS2300 and Kenney Bell - any reason you did not do a Whipple?

Just knew from measuring my existing cars that I think I can get it under the factory hood. Also have done 5 Maggie's already so pretty familiar with them and even have some extra pulleys and belts sitting around.

You should try someting different.
Curious though, why a LS3? How come you didn't get them to bore it to a 418 or 427?
