15 year old Pro Driver GTS World Challenge racing St Pete
Media Day Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg Andersen RacePark, FL - Breathless Performance/Hydraulic Jeans rookie driver Ernie Francis Jr. attended Andersen RacePark last week to take part in a day of press engagements for the upcoming Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg season opener March 22nd - 24th. Joined alongside IndyCar drivers Alex Tagliani, Justin Wilson and others, Ernie Francis Jr. was racing around on the kart track and sharing his excitement about the Pirelli World Challenge season in a Q&A session - it was an action packed day. Dan Andersen of Andersen RacePark hosted the event and invited military heroes to join as a special part of the afternoon. "It was a great honor and privilege to visit with all of these great people," said Ernie Francis Jr., driver of the Breathless Performance/Hydraulic Jeans Chevrolet Camaro. "I am looking to perform strong and make a good showing. I am not expecting victory right away, but will be searching for one at every race.” Ernie Francis Jr. will campaign his custom built GTS class Chevrolet Camaro in Pirelli World Challenge for the first time this year. At age 15, Francis Jr. is the youngest licensed driver in the field and will compete against a long list of experienced past champions as he looks to work his way up the ranks. Our driver, Alec Udell, also started in World Challenge at age 15. That's the youngest most tracks will allow one to race. Many have higher age limits due to insurance requirements, etc. The field of drivers in GTS is the best I've seen in many years, so it's going to be tough to get good finishes.
St Pete is tough on cars. Plenty of places to get into trouble, but not as bad as Long Beach. We'll be running there with 2 Boss302R's Watch out for us. |
