Sad day, First speeding ticket
So I had a clean record for 10 years and today after a bad day at work i just wanted to get home right away, little did i know there is a cop just on the intersection i was gonna turn into and clocked me for going 40kph over the speed limit. I think Ill just sleep the rest of the day off. :emoticon1:

Get it over it.

It could have been worse. In BC they would have towed and impounded your car for 40 over...
|
One ticket in ten years ,,,, not BAD. :)
|
Depends what they charge you for. 40+ is immediate court date.
Could just give you less, that's up to them |
Sorry too hear Johnny Law got you:(
You need to remember that Holiday weekends there is extra enforcement out and they love getting the big ones. It is kind of like fishing for them, they brag about the biggest ticket or necest car they got. BTW seen a Charcoal Grey GTR getting the tow/impound 50k over near the Hwy 3 turn toward Cayuga. GF and I did a lot of driving this weekend and there were cops everywhere. |

police officers make mistakes you know...fight it:biggrin: |
40 over?? Was it 90 in a 50, 120 in an 80, 140 in 100???
What was it? What was the fine? Just wondering. |

Valentine V1 my friend will save you $$$ in the long run. Speed limits are set artificially low so it's just another form of taxation.

Plus you get a nice juicy fine. |

2.) It's a fine, apx 160.00 in Ontario up to 500 I believe.. 3.) They 'may' confiscate the head unit portion. (by may pretty much always) 4.) Look into: http://www.kmph.ca/guides/radar-dete...rn-canada.html Further Reading for those interested http://www.audiforum.ca/audi-s-rs-mo...ontario-63910/ ^ Great writeup. and last but not least. You were speeding, its your fault, buying a radar detector makes you 'sneaky'. If that's how you want to roll then to each his own. Personally... Wanna see how fast your car can go? Wanna show off? Wanna push the limits? No Problem - > Take it to the track, otherwise - you run the risk of tickets, points, and if you DO retain a detector, pray to god you don't get detected. Oh and one last thing .. http://www.kmph.ca/ Whatever you consider 'worth it'... Oh and for those thinking the speed limits are 'to low' or should be higher: http://www.stop100.ca/ Enjoy. Well, since I'm on a roll.. If you do get a radar detector, and you do get pulled over You could always have a huge envelope, take your head unit down, put it in your envelope and seal it.. Technically they can't open sealed documents without a court order.. - Just sayin. All this is a lot of 'work' when the alternative is do the speed limit. |
I'd recommend showing up to court. If the cop doesn't show, congrats you just saved yourself a few hundred bucks, if he does... well you had it coming. I just recently went to court and fought (and won) my ticket for 'passing an emergency vehicle with their lights on "too quickly" '..... anyway, over half the people there got off cause their officer didnt show. Process if you don't go to trial may take less than an hour.

For the record I do take mine to the track and was actually there racing yesterday. As far as speed limits being to low that's a matter of opinion and in my opinion they are ridiculously low. Here is a little video shot in BC that I feel makes the point very nicely.

I do take it to the track check my sig. That sealed envelope thing wouldn't work otherwise they should actually need a search warrant for looking around in your car. Speed limits are set too low to maximize revenue. I drive reasonable and prudent for the conditions IE.. 120/130 in 100, 98 in a 80, 70-60 and 58-50 BTW cops can be tools trying to show their power like tonight on the way home from work. They were driving 98/95 in the center lane and all the sheeple were afraid to go by or pass and traffic was backing up on the QEW. I went by them at 115 they looked over at me and that was it they let me go. I think they were just seeing who would have the balls to pass them. |
