Dealer told me I'm looking at a 10 month wait...legit?

I went in to see a 2SS IOM with the IOM interior, 21" wheels etc today at a local dealer. He told me if I placed the official order today, I wouldn't realistically expect to see the car until Feb or so of 2010. Does that sound reasonable?

maybe feb 2010

I wouldnt really think so but you have to consider the 9 week shut down. If the camaro plant is or is not. Its been 7 months for me. I am excited for friday my car is supposed to be here ready to go.

completely depends............go read some threads about this.

if you find a dealer with allocation left (your dealer probably doesn't), possibly late summer...........

I spoke with the sales manager and he said they already have over 30 orders in...I asked him about allocation, and he kind of brushed it off. I think there might be something to that. I know this car is hot, and will be throughout the summer, but I just have a hard time believing its already a 10 month waiting list. He also is selling them for MSRP...whereas most other dealers locally don't seem to be doing, at least initially.

the Camaro is NOT involved. only possible shutdown of the Camaro is if GM files bankruptcy and they halt ALL production until it's final.

thats the word from the man himself.................:w00t:

If GM files for chapter 11 bankruptcy and all production stops, it's going to get pretty ugly around here.:yikes:

bluch 05-05-2009 08:10 PM

i just gotta ask one thing......if you went to go see a Camaro, WHERE ARE THE PICS!?!?!

:needpics:

There is no 9 week shutdown for the Camaro Plant, maybe a 1 week over July 4th week (old news). You waited 7 months after ordering but 5 of those months they were not in production and the other 2 months they were just ramping up production.

There is the 500lb gorilla in the room right now. If this happens it's anyone's guess what will happen and my guess is that it is going to happen.

Optimus Prime 05-05-2009 08:54 PM

I talked to a salesman at a local dealership who told me they still have one allocation left from their original production guide number (at MSRP). He said his inventory manager told him if someone took that spot today, they'd have their car by July... for whatever that's worth.
