At the CamaroCross we hold a drivers meeting and put the cars on course. Unlike drag racing you should get at least 5 runs that last on the RP CC course about 1 minute each. At a drag strip you pretty much know the course before you get there. It is a straight 1/4 mile shot. Track prep, temps and numerous other variables must be mastered, but you know the course. When you arrive at a CC you have to master those drag race variables and a new course. Drivers get faster with every run. The more runs the better.

At the drag strip drivers drive and the paid track crew does all the necessary work. At the CamaroCross, a dedicated TEAM of volunteers handle admin, timing, tech, safety, coaching and more. The drivers take turns working the course. They handle flags for safety. They reset cones. They help keep everything smooth and safe. Drivers will be divided into heats. Group A works the course while group B drives. When Group A gets in three runs they switch positions. When Group B gets in three runs they switch again. We'll switch as many times as possible to give every driver the max number of runs. The less cones a group knocks down, the smoother the group functions the more runs everyone can get in.

You can let you car cool off, but you'll have to take your turn at course work.

White rentals get a 2 second credit, unless they are comparing times to other white rentals. Last year the white rental came with 585 tread wear tires

Sound great! Also as a side note. 100$ is standard for any racing. If we just drag, then its still 100$ correct. if so everyone should autox!

Mods don't matter at a CamaroCross (or on Camaro5) :)

You can have just as much fun in a bone stock Spark when you are finding the limits of your driving skill and vehicle. No matter what your skill level, your experience level or your vehicle you'll have a great time with the group and on track. Camaro5FEST is a social event with car activities. The CC is one of the most social and exciting activities at the FEST.

or even in a Hyundai

Just signed up for Friday PM!

The_Stache 02-16-2014 07:46 PM

So I just registered, it only let me do so for one session. Is it being limited to that? Or do I need to register multiple times to be in multiple sessions?

I believe you register for just one session, then you must work one session as well. If you do well enough, you would also do a PM session on Saturday.

From everything I've read it sound like they are setting it up like regular autocross for each session (see sample schedule below). Breaking each session into groups with a rotational work/run/rest schedule.

My question is IF I can register for more than 1 session, run and work multiple sessions not including finals.

My plan is to spend 80% time autox, then 20% drag and I want to get in as many laps as possible on the autox course...

Friday AM Session (8-12)
Split into (Sample)
-Group A - Run First, Rest Second, Corner Third
-Group B - Corner first, Run Second, Rest Third
-Group C - Rest first, Corner Second, Run Third

Ugh....I am going to miss it.... :pout:

CAP'N B 02-24-2014 12:03 AM

I was wondering if there would be conflicts, in between drag racing and autoX, I want to do both, I want to run bracket drags and modified autoX, could we skip the spectator part to drag race? If I work and drive, or drive then work. Could I then leave the area to drag race, or will we have to stay with our cars in the auto cross area for the whole session????

mp51998 02-24-2014 12:42 AM

As in years past they will make arrangements so that you will be able to do both. The important part is that you do your 'work' part before or after driving.
