ZL1 alert, Intercooler coolant cap missing?
My son picked up #254 last Thursday. After the 50 mile drive home we could smell coolant slightly but could not locate any leaks. With all gauges indicating normal and fluid levels normal and the absence of any puddles we kept close watch for any other indications. After the initial drive that pungent smell was all but gone so we figured it was just fresh motor syndrome.
Well, today he has the car at work and was showing his buddy the engine. They pulled the SC cover only to find the super charger, intercooler cap missing.??? The car has about, I'm guessing less than 400 miles and hasn't seen 4000rpm yet do to break in procedure. I don't know, at this point, what the implications are if any, I don't know if there is any coolant at all in the intercooler, if this situation would damage the intercooler pump etc. I'm a little pissed because they also forgot to pull the front spring spacers. I'm wondering if they did a QC check at all. Needless to say check everything yourself. I've never had an intercooled vehicle before so I just didn't think of it.:readthethread: |
stiff ride home, huh..pics?

Great dealer you got there . . .

So much for the PDI
|
was it missing from the factory, or does the dealer check it when they PDI
|
We don't know, at this point, if it ever was installed.

I heard the Magnetic Ride could be damaged if driven with the spring spacers not removed.
Actually heard from a dealership that they damaged a Vette a few years back by doing that and it cost them plenty. Maybe not but I would document it since driven 400 miles with spacers still on the Car... |

I would say Oshawa is just as much to blame on this one. |
did the dealer even get to check it over, or did you just drive it home off the truck?
|
Go over everything yourself. Way too many dealers are missing things. It's ridiculous how many cars have got sent home with the spring spacers still in.
