Quite amused...
So, a couple of weeks ago I purchased my Rally Yellow 2011 2LT/RS. (Yes, I wanted the V6.) When I drove it to work and my boss, the owner of the company I work for, saw it parked in my assigned spot he asked me if it was mine. When I told him that it was indeed mine, he immediately began to scold me and escorted me down to the parking garage.... :paddle: When we got down there he pointed at my Camaro, then to his vehicle... "Notice anything?" he said... "My car is newer?" I replied... :yikes: "NO! You're parked all wrong! You see those two empty spots on either side of your new car? Those are OUR spots and I want you to use them!! Don't let ANYONE park next to you in this garage; I don't want you up there worrying about door dings, so go figure out how to make your new toy fit in all three of those spots." I didn't know what to say except for "Yes, sir."
So, now I'll fast forward to a few days ago... The gentleman who owns the company on the floor below us, who I chat with on a semi-regular basis, happens to be standing by the elevator in the parking garage as I pulled in from lunch. He realizes that it's me driving the Camaro, stops me and says "New Wheels?"... I nodded and quickly pulled into my assigned parking spot(s). I gave him the 'tour' of the vehicle, then had him sit in the drivers seat and start it up. (The HUD blew his freaking mind... it was hysterical.) I asked him if he wanted to take it for a drive; he declined... he said that he thought the inside of the car would be boring, uncomfortable and plain, but he was happily mistaken... He thanked me for showing him the car, asked me a few more questions about various models / trim levels then we parted ways.
Today my office phone rang and it was my friend from the floor below me. He informed me that he was about to order a Mustang Shelby GT500 but after sitting in my 2LT/RS Camaro and taking a good look at it, he decided to pre-order the 2012 Camaro ZL1 instead... he wanted to thank me for all of the info I gave him during our previous conversation and for changing his mind. Then he asked me to meet him in the garage to have another look inside my Camaro.... After I let him know that I had to get back up to my office he said "That's fine; I'm leaving for the day anyway." (It was 11:30AM) "I have a ZL1 to order."
UPDATED: 6/22/2011
After parking my car this morning, actually about 15 minutes ago, a gentleman stopped me on the way to the elevator. (I've seen him around the parking garage before, so I assume he works in the building.) So, anyway, he complimented me on my vehicle and the color choice then said he asked about the starting price... He then said "Well then, that car is sharp looking and I think I could swing that price; I might just have to reconsider buying that Mustang I had my eye on."
Now let me say this; I'm NOT anti-Mustang or anti-Ford... I've never owned either, so I can't say anything negative about the company or the car. (I've owned nothing but Toyota and Honda vehicles up until May 28th, 2011.. Ooops... actually I did own a 1991 Geo Storm GSi, but my ex wife took that and left me with the 2001 Honda Civic.) I think the new Mustangs are attractive, as are the new Challengers, however I happen to like the body style of the Camaro a bit more... ok, quite a bit more.
