passenger side Elite catch can mount

When I brought the ZL1 home, I knew the first thing that I wanted to get on it was an Elite Engineering catch can. After searching and searching and searching, I didn't find any mounting options that were going to work for me since the car still has the stock air box on it.
I was given an idea of using the LLT V6 bracket to mount it off of the passenger side radiator bolt, but the bracket wasn't long enough to get out past the drip rail that's over the top of the fans and didn't mount the can high enough so that it would sit high enough up to clear the drip rail.

Then I found this post from forum member CanadianZL1#992 and the bracket that Davenport Motorsports used to mount his Elite Catch can off that same bolt on the passenger side.
I sent this pic to Steve at Elite Engineering, and Steve liked the idea and sent me the hockey stick mount and a spacer that he was pretty sure would work. I ran to Lowe's and bought some 6mm x 1.00 x 40mm and 50mm long bolts, 6mm split lock washers, and some 5/16" flat washers (they didn't have any 6mm washers that had a big enough outside diameter).
After cutting the hockey stick mount just below the upper mounting slot, here's our mounting hardware.

In the pic below you can see the coolant line that runs from the radiator cap to the overflow and a wiring harness that we need to move out of the way.

Pull the coolant line out of the tabs that it sits in and just pull it over a little bit. Then use a flat blade screwdriver to pop the harness out, move the harness over towards the passenger side, and it easily just sort of "tucks" out of the way.

I grabbed the 40mm and 50mm long bolts that I picked up at Lowe's and tested them both to see which one was going to work, and....neither did. The 40mm was just long enough that it barely grabbed the nut in the radiator mount, and the 50mm was too long and wouldn't thread all the way in since it hit the back side of the radiator mount. So I cut a little bit off the 50mm bolt, and it works perfect.

With the can mounted to the bracket, it fits great. To check or empty the can you'll have to remove it rather than just unscrew it, that's a piece of cake and only take a 10mm socket.

The can came with a straight and a 90 degree fitting for the oil lines, but two 90's are needed to mount the can like this.
This was a piece of cake (with Steve's help) and if anyone wants to relocate their can, I'm sure Steve can get you the parts you need.
Anyone on the fence about getting the Elite can due to the available mounting locations, you don't need to be anymore.

Damn near the exact same thing! The pics I found of yours are pretty much what I copied!
I even credited you and Davenport Motorsports. :thumb:

Looks great. I wanted the black chrome can but davenport only had one can in stock and it was the red one, I think it looked ok with the red engine cover and rotofab CAI hoses. I have just enough room to unscrew and remove mine to empty it. I don't have to remove the whole can

The fitting came today, so I'm just waiting for the car to cool down so I can get the install finished.
I'll check to see if I can get it unscrewed once it's mounted again.

...and like I said, that location doesn't work for me. It's too close to heat sources IMO, and odds are it wasn't going to fit there with the stock airbox still on the car.

Mounted.
Huge thanks to Steve from Elite Engineering for working with me and getting me the pieces I needed to put this Frankenstein together. Very much appreciated Steve!

Nice! Like that!
With how far that sticks out, you don't think it's putting much stress on that mounting location?
