Can someone explain my lose?!

Ok so in school the parking lot is filled with ricers and most i don't know the drivers but i know about 50% and they get at me like salt on a peanut becuase i have a camaro.

So there was this scion tc and wanted to race me so we went for it a week later. (we did not street race)

I lost, it was horrible and embarrasing, i lost by at least 2 cars.

His car is automatic
Scion tc
v4 2.4 i think and 164 hp (stock) ((i think)) but im in theball park or right
Exhuast
somthing done to his cams
cold air
and a loud ass anoying ricer muffler

My camaro
V6 3.8 around 220hp with the mods
Dual cb exhuast
performance air filter
some permormance spark plugs

They are both automatic

How did i loose this? Timing was right, my car has more hp, a v6 and is well maintained.

IDK.. lol that sucks though

TonytheTiger 12-17-2008 11:00 PM

I don't remeber what he did with his cams i think i heard twincam or 2 cams idk
does it help alot anyways?

TheClassicCarKid 12-17-2008 11:08 PM

Well his car(3000lbs.) is lighter than yours(3300)
And he's got cam work which usually adds some significant power

how many gears do the Scions have?

Your Camaro only has 4, right? If he had a six-speed, or even a 5-speed...that might help explain it a little....

It has a four-speed

TonytheTiger 12-17-2008 11:33 PM

I thoguth my camaro was a 6 speed?

Mr. Wyndham 12-17-2008 11:33 PM

Not if it was an automatic. The manuals were 6-speeds.

TonytheTiger 12-17-2008 11:38 PM

Ohhhhh. i would ask him for a rematch but i thought i wouldn't, But i have beat a honda accord (riced out), a civic (riced out), and 2 focuses (very riced out)

Mr. Wyndham 12-17-2008 11:41 PM

You could have just had a bad run...it happens.:iono:

TonytheTiger 12-17-2008 11:48 PM

Maybe....I had faith in my camaro to beat that, i actually thought i was going to fly right by him. like most ricers i have raced, they take off like a bullet but slow down really bad at the end, i guess that when the v6 i got kicks in for diffrence.

I think it all comes down to stickers in the end...

Boomer Sooner 12-18-2008 12:35 AM

and all the neon lighting.

I'm working with a guy here in Portland that does custom SuperChargers and I'm having him look into something for my 3.8 V6. If I have him do the work and the HP gains are really good I'll give you his number. Might take me a while though, moneys really tight right now. But I'm aiming for 350 - 400 if I can manage that.

Not the V6 cars.

Camaro_Corvette 12-18-2008 08:03 AM

The only thing i can put up there is the weight. IDK what kind of camwork he had done but it must have made a big difference. Sorry, sometimes you will lose. I'm yet to race the wrong guy, but eventually I will.

Croathlete 12-18-2008 08:14 AM

You know if you had a realllly big spoiler, your rear tires would have gripped the ground much better and you definitely would have flew right by him. :D

Seriously though, just because they look "riced out" doesn't mean they couldn't of had some serious engine work done.

SS4EVER 12-18-2008 09:53 AM

Even if he had cam work he's still not going to be making anything significant in that Camry engine. Yeah. Don't know because I've raced Scion TC's with the TRD Supercharger, and I've beat them in my stock Cobalt SS Supercharged.

TonytheTiger 12-18-2008 10:02 AM

Make i should get a Nos stickeer next time to add an extra 10hp.

Camaro_Corvette 12-18-2008 10:41 AM

No way you will add a NOS sticker and only get ten HP out of it.

zebra 12-18-2008 11:24 AM

i would say to pull one of their crappy excuses like "he was on juice" or "i missed third" (yes i know you're in an auto!) but if you do, then you're just stooping to their level. my friend has an 08 tc & it's pretty quick! i was almost impressed

Mr Twisty 12-18-2008 01:40 PM

He's probably squirting laughing gas. Cheep thrill for ricemobile.

zebra 12-18-2008 05:44 PM

i lost to a ford escape a couple months ago. i know... it's embarrassing, but you gotta remember - no matter how fast your car is, there's always gonna be somebody faster (the car you drive does, however, vary the degree of truth to this statement)

MerF 12-18-2008 05:47 PM

TC's are neat little cars and they have an AMAZING torque curve...more like a line. Don't sleep on them, I've seen one on the dyno and remember being thoroughly impressed (though I don't remember the numbers).
